joeyh1485 Posted July 5, 2013 Author Posted July 5, 2013 Cheere mate im made up with how it turned out
SouthpawGuy Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Like the finish, so it looks more of a green colour "in the flesh" ? .
FredZepp Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Great job on fine tuning your Heritage. It sounds like you've had success in getting it set-up like you like it. Sweet looking 150...
joeyh1485 Posted July 5, 2013 Author Posted July 5, 2013 Like the finish, so it looks more of a green colour "in the flesh" ? . Yeah mate its teal green in person probably more so than I can show in a pic - its the first guitar the wife has liked the look of ha Great job on fine tuning your Heritage. It sounds like you've had success in getting it set-up like you like it. Sweet looking 150... Thanks mate it went better than I expected all I need now is more time to bond with her, she will be officially mine when I come up with a name for her but that comes with time :-)
SouthpawGuy Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Yeah mate its teal green in person probably more so than I can show in a pic - its the first guitar the wife has liked the look of ha I have an Ibanez that does that, it's called twilight blue but only ever looks blue in direct sunlight or on a really bright day, most of the time it looks green.

Its weird and if I had known it was going to be green most of the time I doubt I would have wanted it but now its in front of me I love it lol What type of ibanez is it mate? Im only allowed one guitar at a time or the wife goes nuts ha
Hfan Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 I like that guitar, it's a player. Even the binding cracks look cool. If it was mine I would be looking through the kids sharpies to touch up that neck joint a little. Enjoy.

Thanks mate I like the binding cracks as well, I am thinking of touching up the neck joint to protect the wood when im travelling with work but not going away for two years so no rush just yet Heres a pic of the new flame maple veneer truss rod cover I think it goes with the binding more - can you tell im in love with this guitwr or what ha
Trouble Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 Ive just spent a few hours playing it and I don't think im going to replace the bridge and tailpiece I didn't notice any loss of sustain and it really doesn't bother me that much Looking at the nut the slot for the A string is in pretty bad shape and the string is strung the wrong way round the post so im guessing imay need a new nut soon but I'll get someone who knows what they are doing to sort that out lol Yeah love that this guitar has been played an has a bit of history All in all I am very happy with this guitar it sustains like nothing I've ever played before lol I know a lot of guys don't like the Schaller bridge and tailpiece but I have both Schaller and Tonepros, and I'm fine with either. All of the problems with your guitar could be expected with an instrument that old, except for the orange peel on the back of the neck/headstock, which looks like a finish flaw, everything else just looks like age and playwear. I would play it and love it. Also, since it already has a few dings and scrapes you may be more comfortable personalizing it than you would a brand new, pristine guitar. Change anything you want to make it your own and don't look back.

I honestly didnt mind the schaller bridge and tailpiece I mainly changed it for looks although I found myself resting the palm of my picking hand on the tailpiece instead of the bridge which then made me clip the treble pickup when picking hard I was thinking it may have sat in a stand for too long? There are marks on the bottom that suggest that it may have been Does anybody know if schaller pickups come with metal braid cable like gibson pickups? Looking on the net they appear not too? Mine have netal braid wire and without checking im wondering if they have been changed at some point
Hfan Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 Haven't had mine out in a while I don't recall braided or not but the Schallers are usually stamped or labeled on the bottom w made in Germany I think..searched..here: also, the stock Schallers usually have two adjusting screws per side, yours have one. Your pickup rings are Schallers though. I tried to paste the picture here but I get an error message..here's a link with a pic of the Schallers: http://www.tdpri.com/forum/attachments/just-pickups/4065d1183407042t-schaller-golden-50s-humbuckers-golden50bottom-jpg
SouthpawGuy Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 Any Schallers I've had have the wiring shown in the pic .... The numbered sticker is the year of production

The numbered sticker is the year of production Mine dont look like the same cable, I'm intrigued as to what they are now, they sound good to my ears so I'm happy with them no matter what What a strange model name for such a cool looking guitar lol I wish the wife would let me be a collector

Not sure about the pickups never had Shallers, as for changing the hardware out, it's your guitar, do what you need to do to make yourself comfortable with it. I think it's a great looking axe, and I swear I've seen it before. The mineral streaks in the top look so familiar to me.

You will know more than me about guitar paint mate im guessing ha ha I do think it adds character There was a thread on here in 2011 about the guitar being listed on ebay, when I got it the strings looked exactly the same YIKES 2 years the same strings
joeyh1485 Posted July 7, 2013 Author Posted July 7, 2013 Had a nice surprise when I took a peak at the bridge pick up it seems to be an SD Seth Lover Im happy with the sound of these so not going to change them even though I have been gassing for a set of bare knuckle's
Cajun Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 I just had a similar experience. I traded two guitars for a H-150 VSB. It was not disclosed to me that it was a 2nd, and I didn't notice the 2 (I think it had been covered up or something). I had my luthier clean it up when he set it up - and out jumped the 2 (I don't know how it was shrouded - is clear as day now). There were some flaws on the back of the neck which I saw and that were probably the reason for it. Anyway - although I overpaid for it - it is a fantastic guitar and plays wonderfully with it's new Fralin Unbuckers. It's a keeper for sure, and my luthier was very impressed. He mentioned that he had a customer buy several Gibson reissues (R7, etc.) and they came to him new with all kinds of new problems. Additionally, he said about 9 out of 10 new Les Pauls come to him with fret issues.
joeyh1485 Posted July 7, 2013 Author Posted July 7, 2013 Seths are great pickups. . I loved the way they sounded before I knoew what they were which is great because the name had no influence over me liking them, not too hot and not to weak absolutely awesome :-) I just had a similar experience. That is pretty much exactly the same as me mate and im glad I didn't find out about the 2 until I had committed to the deal or I may have never had the pleasure of owning this awesome guitar! The seths are just the icing on the cake How do you like the unbuckers? I've always wanted to try fralin pickups but when it comes to it im always swayed by bare knuckle or I think once I boughta pair from cats whisker pickups off ebay for a very reasonable price if I remember correctly Just out of interest what guitars did you trade for it? Anyway I dont think im going to mess with this guitars pickups now I like what I hear
