slider313 Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Bought it, sold it, bought it back. A 1989 H147 in blue. It had gold hardware but it really didn't do the amazing blue finish justice. The color is actually a bit darker than this picture. New bone nut thanks to Jack Briggs. These came with 300k volume pots so I replaced them with a set of CTS 500K's and it really "opened up" the sound.
gpuma Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 I think that the H147 is a super cool guitar. This one is no exception
Steiner Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Ah. Zure... That's a good-looking Heritage, congrats.
schundog Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 That is a very impressive looking guit, that, I'll bet, would look great with gold OR silver hardware. What are those pickups? Very intersting looking without the usual pole piece adjustment screws.
Spectrum13 Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Great looking 147. What is the inlay on the headstock?
Millennium Maestro Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 I would love the opportunity to buy her if you decide to sell her.... Very nice guitar! Or maybe I have some trade bait...
bolero Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 that is REALLY nice....I was wondering about the headstock inlay too, google brought me this: I seem to remember it being a medieval knight's full face helmet, with plume? or maybe the mold has got my head, again
SofaPlayer Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 That guitar is pure bliss! I'd also like to know more about those pickups...
111518 Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Beautiful guitar, Mike, and very glad to see you back posting.
SouthpawGuy Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Nice 147, not too many of those were made, love the blue.
PrairieDude Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Great looking guitar!! I'm glad it found it's way back home.
koula901 Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Nice! Love 147's! Really cool guitar! I never heard of 147s. What is it? Perhaps a 140 with gold hardware originally? Couldn't find it on the Heritage website - maybe a d/c'd guit.
Kuz Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 She is a beauty Mike. I always liked the way Heritage did their blue guitars. The Super Kenny Burrell is one of Heritage's flag ship guitars, so you know they do blue right!!!
SouthpawGuy Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 The 147 was to the 140 as the 157 is to the 150, if that makes sense. The body thickness was the same as the 140, making it lighter. Just as the 157 has gold hardware, block inlays, ebony board, bound headstock, binding on the front and back of the body, (multi bound on the front) and bound wooden pickguard, so did the 147.
slider313 Posted July 14, 2013 Author Posted July 14, 2013 The headstock inlay on the early models was leftover "rose" from the Gibson Hummingbird. Ex employee Randy Markus gave me that bit of onfo. The neck on this one is a nice piece of "flamed" mahogany. The pickups are a set of Tom Short Undercover Mini's.
DavesNotHere Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 That is a beauty. Do you have any shots of the back?
yoslate Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Beauty, Mike! You should do the new guys on the forum the favor of posting some pics of your 140 re-fin, too! Great to see you back here! Good friend of mine, you may know him, Scott Sawyer (marvelous player and world class nice guy), swears by Jack Briggs' work, and raves about his custom builds.
