koula901 Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 A 357 would be cool but they don't make them in lefty I know . . . but . . there is an alternative.
SouthpawGuy Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 I know . . . but . . there is an alternative. ?
bolero Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 yeah if you got the strap pin moved to the horn ( like on a strat ) I think that would work fine heck if it's a new build you may be able to put the controls on the bottom? also JB has a line on some custom firebird style gtrs...melodybird I think it's called?

So that would be a non reverse f bird then ? But the pickguard would still be upside down.
bolero Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 funny enough, all my pick scratches are on the TOP side, by the low E strings....I never touch the area over the pickguard with my pick plus I much prefer the toggle uptop like that, instead of way out there, on the firebird archipelago
kidsmoke Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 plus I much prefer the toggle uptop like that, instead of way out there, on the firebird archipelago Something I've often thought about this model...seems impractical way the heck out there. I have enough trouble with it in the LP location. I took a cue from the Johnny A model, and slightly rotated the switch on my 535 so that rather than 12-6 o'clock orientation its at a 2-8 o'clock, which I love. From a playing position you can go from neck to bridge with a flick of your pinky, and back to neck with a hook of the same, barely moving your hand. in that context, that 357 location looks WAY out of place.
bolero Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 heh, yeah I rotate my switches like that too, it naturally fits into the angle your picking hand is already moving in
gpuma Posted July 17, 2013 Author Posted July 17, 2013 That's interesting. I always wondered why the switches were oriented that way. It would be so much more intuitive to have them move left/right instead of up/down
HANGAR18 Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 Which one would you choose if you could pick one up? Having never owned anything like any of them, I am currently trying to expand my guitar collection to include a 535. As in I am actively trying to get my hands on a 535 as I type this. The 535 (aka 335) is legendary so that's what I'm starting with.

HANGAR18 Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 PSP might be a good place to look for one ... Oh yea, I have one local deal pending which involves me getting a 535. But if that deal doesn't go down for whatever reason, I'll make a formal announcement that I'll be looking to play "let's make a deal" at PSP this year. I've also had a few other deals fizzle out over the past few weeks. Worst case scenario, I'll just save up for 6 months and BUY one outright.
