Got me thinking, so I went out and bought a used EVM-15L tonight that I'll drop in a cabinet. Not sure if I will do one from scratch in a Thiele upsized design or whether I will used an old 24x19x19 I built back in another lifetime. It currently has a 12'' in it, but I can resize the hole. Either way, when I use that for bottom and a a 2x12 V30 cabinet I built for the upper range, I'm thinking it should sound OK and be portable.

...sounds like the speaker array I end up with when I use my Riviera BM100-15 (which has an EV) sitting on a 2-12 V30 closed cab. I really like the combination; I think the different characteristics of the speakers compliment each other well.

Finished with the job and it wore me out, manually screwing dry wood (36 holes), but I was anxious to get it knocked out and got good results. Sounds very close to the Thiele cabinet, but this is more of a straight ported design. Perhaps a slightly loud bottom, but since it is an EV and not the 15B, it has crispness also.

Bought an EVM-18B last night which I will use for a bass rig, matching it up with the Thiele or 15L for the upper register. If you are going to be a bear, be a grizzly.

I've got two Weber JBL clone 15s in my Dual Showman Reverb cab that I use with the Yes band. When I can crank that amp a bit (usually at outdoor shows), those speakers deliver a very balanced tone with more bass definition than any of my other cabs. They do a pretty god job at lower volumes, but there's less difference and they can get a bit "wooffy."
