bolero Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 a 575 with P90's not a fan of the creme covers, I fitted some black ones on instead... I think I'll remove that armrest as well, I like the cleaner lines of the classic bodystyle but it sounds great...I've been on the lookout for one, for a while...they don't come around here often
FredZepp Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 That combination should sound pretty awesome through a nice amp. Some nice warm cleans and some wild rockin' when cranked. Congrats on the new find.
Keith7940236 Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 Really good looking axe, I bet it sounds awesome
Spectrum13 Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 And by something you don't see everyday... I can't see the photo. Now that is funny!
bolero Posted July 15, 2013 Author Posted July 15, 2013 lol that's what I get for "free hosting", if you refresh the page they should show up?
SofaPlayer Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 The armrest looks awkward but the rest is gorgeous! A very special guitar, congrats!
bolero Posted July 15, 2013 Author Posted July 15, 2013 yep I think the label says ASB inside thx guys
SouthpawGuy Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 yep I think the label says ASB inside thx guys Don't see too many 575s in antique burst, cool !
tulk1 Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 Save the armrest. Get a mandolin. Then you're set. The black/black looks great!
111518 Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 Cool guitar, congrats. Interesting solution to the problem of mounting soap bars in a hollowbody. What catches the screws through the pickups? Never seen exactly that setup before, but, if it allows the pickups to be adjustable, that would be neat.
bolero Posted July 17, 2013 Author Posted July 17, 2013 allright, pretty much finished with the cosmetics, still need to put heavier strings on....but here it is strung up: crappy cellphone pic
bolero Posted July 17, 2013 Author Posted July 17, 2013 yes, the pickup rings are stained maple, which is cool the guy I bought it from put the P90's in, it is routed for humbuckers...what he did is hide-glued a strip of wood along inside of the top, covering the pup routes. I guess it's about 1/4" inch thick. the P90 screws go directly into that, so yes they are height adjustable the good thing about hide glue ( I researched it a bit ) is it's water soluble, even after 100 years....so if I ever want to flip this 575 back to humbuckers I can remove that strip, and reinstall them I think I'll leave it setup for P90's though I like the black covers...it's more subdued and doesn't distract from the subtle woodgrain & black accents on the body. those creme rings just SCREAMED at my eyeballs, I hardly even noticed the rest of the guitar
SouthpawGuy Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 Interesting mod, hadn't heard of that method before.
