mark555 Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 Congratulations on owning such a beautiful guitar. I love the clean tones from my 555 for blues, I tend to drift off into the mellow side of blues when I am playing it, my Tokai (Les Paul style) guitar tends to make me want to drive the amp a bit harder. A nice semi is such a comforable guitar to play, I wish you much enjoyment from it.
SouthpawGuy Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 I'm still exploring the 535 and the particular arrangements of pickups which is in it at the moment so I don't have anything specific to report right now. In general, I think that my "right tool for the job" mentality is applicable here in that some of my goals with this guitar are... greater comfort playing while seated and a more authentic blues tone which is often heard from instruments like this. This is not to say that you can't get a good blues tone from other guitars, I'm just trying to emulate a specific tone or mood that I've heard from some specific blues artists who play a guitar like this. I'm currently pushing myself to increase my learning within the genre of The Blues and acquiring this guitar is an early step in the process. At the moment, I don't have a particular preference for pickups in this guitar and intend to just keep what's in there indefinitely, thinking that it will be good enough for now. I don't think I have a fully grounded baseline for what guitars like this should sound like so I am at somewhat of a loss to comment as to how good these pickups sound compared to other pickups. Because all of the guitars I have ever owned have been solid bodies, I feel like I have to start over again when it comes to pickups. All the pickups I have ever become familiar with are going to sound different in a semi-hollow versus a solid body. What I can say with all confidence is that I like this guitar! So have had the air blowing out the f holes yet ?
