bolero Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 apparently the guy who invented the Maestro Fuzz pedal was inspired by the guitar solo in this Marty Robbins song...1:25 or so it was caused by a faulty part in the recording console, at the studio ( maybe a bad tube? ) more interesting stuff on Wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Distortion_%28music%29
Genericmusic Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 I did not know that. Thanks for post. By the way nice Marty Robbins tune.
koula901 Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 And here John Lennon thought he was the first one to use a distorted guitar sound.
DetroitBlues Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 That solo sounded like a baseball card in a spoke really fast...
Gitfiddler Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Since most of the old guitar recordings of the 40's and 50's had underpowered or tiny amps, natural distortion or overdrive was redily available. But most avoided over driving their little suitcase-sized amps. It's interesting to hear some otherwise 'clean' recordings where the guitars were slightly buzzy sounding.

It's amazing the shit you learn on the HOC
yoslate Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 The solo sounds like a baritone, as well. Wonderful singer! Love stuff like this....
yoslate Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Oooops...! Just read about it.... Six string bass. Marvelous!
