boanerges Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 I just ordered a new H 150 CM from Wolfe Guitars -- just look at this beauty: http://www.gbase.com/Stores/Gear/GearDetai...px?Item=1641603 I had a nice chat with the Florida shop luthier Graham, which was kind enough to recommend me the guitar he himself would have chosen among those in stock. It is nice to be able to have a few good guitars to choose from, and somebody to function as your ears when you choose, as I live in Europe -- not very easy to pop by and test different Heritages. But both Jay and Graham were extremely service-minded and understanding. I already own a 2006 P90-equipped Goldtop H 150 which is the best Les Paul I've ever tried (owned a few Gibson, tested a dozen Gibsons and a couple of Heritages, regretting that I didn't buy a Heritage in the first place, instead of browsing through a bunch of mediocre Gibbys). Now I'm really looking forward to playing what most likely is as close as you get to a good '59 these days. Can't wait -- It's being oiled up and shipped this tuesday! Thanks Jay & Graham -- you make it just as easy (even easier) for an European to buy guitars from overseas as it is from a local store. -nerges
Dick Seacup Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 Great looking guitar, nerges. I like Jay's comment on the photo about the use of real pearl inlays. Too rich. Welcome to the Club, BTW!
GuitArtMan Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 Congrats! Beautiful guitar! NOTE: Heritage appologizes for the actual pearl inlay. They're apparently "out" of that cheap and cheesey plastic the other guys use. So sorry. ;D
boanerges Posted October 27, 2007 Author Posted October 27, 2007 Dick, thanks. Nice to have a forum, too, kind of a place to hang out for those of us that has understood it Yeah, they know how to make fun of the Gibsons. Kicking upwards, that's cool.
skydog Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 Congrats! I know you'll like it. I have a VSB H-150CM Classic w/ a '59 neck and Custom/Custom in the bridge. My previous 150 had the Seths as does the 535 that I have in transit.
Yankeefan01 Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 Wow, nice looking guitar. Haven't dealt with the guys from Wolf myself but from what I've heard, they're the best. Also, welcome to the board!
Gitfiddler Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 Boanerges~ WELCOME! I really like that H 150CM!!!!!!!!!!!!! If Graham said it'a good one, you will not be disappointed. Please give us a full report after she comes to live with you.
boanerges Posted October 27, 2007 Author Posted October 27, 2007 Thanks, guys. Skydog: How are those Seths? What's your experience with pickups in the 150s? Gitfiddler: I'll keep you posted when it comes -- hope it doesn't have to sit for too long in the customs.
skydog Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 I found the Seths very warm sounding. Very much a P.A.F. sound. I regretfully sold the 150/Seths to buy a 52 AVRI which proved to be too redundant to my MIJ 52 so I traded it for a 150 with the 59 & Cus/Cus config. They are hotter than the Seths for sure. The 535 I just bought is in transit. It has the Seths in it. They are both in VSB which should make a nice complementing pair. Pics will be added of course!
golferwave Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 An exceptional H-150! You will love the Seth Lover pickups AND the quality of the guitar! Congrats!
Thundersteel Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 Nice guitar! I can't remember if I played that one or not when I was at Wolfe's last weekend. But the guitars that had the Seth Lovers in them had a nice, "airy" tone to them. I prefer them to the '59s.
JohnCovach Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 I've got Seth Lovers on my 155, which I bought from Jay a few years ago. They sound great. I should also point out that Jay sent me a Wolfe Guitars t-shirt in the deal--a must-have for Heritageians!
