Moogolfer Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Got this guitar a couple of months ago but decided to wait until the honeymoon phase was over to make this post. My first impressions were it looked great, played great, and sounded really good. It came with SD 59's in it and they sounded really good, but they got swapped for a set of Zhangbuckers I had lying around. As I said the Duncans sounded good but the Zhangs sound great; clarity and pick sensitivity are a step above. It's a great guitar and was lucky to get it. Thanks to Brent for deciding to let this one go and for a smooth transaction. Also, thanks to forum member BillGelder for finding this guitar and soldering in these new pickups and caps. Two great guys.
FredZepp Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Nice one... welcome to the 150 VSB Club also. ( VSB is a popular finish ) That looks to be a very fine instrument and it sounds like you have found some pickups that fit your playing. ( I also think that the '59's do a pretty good job )
SouthpawGuy Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Very nice, congrats on the guitar and a big +1 to Brent and BillGelder
TalismanRich Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Sweet looking 150. You chose well! (and working with Brent is always good. You don't have to worry about your deal.) Welcome to the HOC!
MartyGrass Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Your guitar reminds me of an early burst LP. The maple cap is splendid. Enjoy.
Gitfiddler Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Great looking and upgraded 150 VSB! Zhang double-whites look great, and I bet they sound fantastic. Welcome.
HANGAR18 Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Nice one... welcome to the 150 VSB Club also. ( VSB is a popular finish ) That's what I was going to say. VSB guitars like that are really great looking. I think everyone ought to have at least one vintage sunburst.
Billgelder Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 Hey John, the photos came out great, but it still looks better in person. Glad you like the new pickups, caps and 50's style wiring.
Steiner Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 Brent sold one of his guitars??? Beautiful example; congrats!
tulk1 Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 I like that you left the Schaller hardware on it. Looks nice!
Moogolfer Posted July 28, 2013 Author Posted July 28, 2013 Thanks for all the kind words and welcomes.
SouthpawGuy Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 Thanks for all the kind words and welcomes. So which model is going to be your next Heritage guitar ?
