H Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 New mahogany Heritage Eagle day. 1991 Antique Sunburst. Needs a little TLC but not in bad shape for 22 years of honest playing. And I'm the good books with my good lady as I traded two guitars for this
SouthpawGuy Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Very nice ! Details ? Which pickup is installed, how does it sound acoustically, does it go well with chocolate biscuits, etc.
Gitfiddler Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Nice MHE. After you put her through her paces, how about a review? Enjoy!
H Posted August 3, 2013 Author Posted August 3, 2013 Thanks all That's three ASB Heritages I have now! As far as details go, I have only these: it's an 'H' serial so it's 1991; it's mahogany all over; it has a stinger; there's no real damage anywhere but it's been someone's main player for a LONG time ; the unknown brand/type pickup is mounted on the pickguard as is the volume pot; it's strung with roundwound D'Addario .011s; it sounds a little thin unplugged, probably because the strings are a bit weedy; the wooden, compensated bridge hasn't been pinned; and finally, I haven't plugged it in yet so I don't know how it sounds amplified. The label inside says simply 'Eagle ASB'. The pickup is covered in black, dull plastic and looks as though it's always been part of this guitar. I have no experience with this part of the Heritage line. Anyone care to enlighten me? The finish is a little faded in places, particularly near the lower bass bout end. I've got some Virtuoso polish and cleaner and I'm going to clean this baby up and put Thomastik-Infeld strings on her.
H Posted August 3, 2013 Author Posted August 3, 2013 A good going over with Virtuoso cleaner and polish, lemon oil and metal polish has restored this lady a little nearer her former glory. Still needs some decent strings but she looks a lot better now.
Keith7940236 Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Congratulations, I really liked my mahogany Eagle. Best bang for the archtop buck out there!
Ned Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 That bench is strangely familiar. I associate it with some fine guitars
SofaPlayer Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 I'd say it's in stunning condition for 22 years of honest playing! The previous owner must have really cared for it. Congrats & enjoy!
SouthpawGuy Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Hard to tell but it looks like the humbucker isn't full size ? Don't know very much about the floating pickups used on Heritage guitars but I seem to remember a numbering system, i.e. a #1, #2, #3 etc.

I haven't had the meter on it yet but I bet it's under 6K.
H Posted August 4, 2013 Author Posted August 4, 2013 This has a sound unlike any other guitar I have. Maybe because there's no tone pot and cap, maybe because the acoustic tone comes through under the pickup tone? Not sure but it sounds good Quick clip through the Vibrolux (Dropbox link): https://www.dropbox.com/s/0hhqtalf4mjg4xw/HeritageEagleAndVibrolux.m4a
gpuma Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Not a patch on *your* new one! No way man! You should be proud!!
pegleg32 Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 That looks like a fine addition to the stable Howard. Congrats!!
schundog Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Right on, Howard! Congratulations. That thing sounds and looks great, and how fitting that you ended up with an "H" serial #. Enjoy her!
