SouthpawGuy Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Came across this blog site yesterday .... http://rockguitardaily.blogspot.com ( a very good site btw) and this blog in particular http://rockguitardaily.blogspot.ie/2013_06_01_archive.html I'd only ever heard of 65amps through the Pro Guitar Shop youtube demos where Andy always played a "G&L Legacy through a 65amp Soho". From reading the blog above they seem to be the "Ferrari" of the guitar amp world. Haven't seen one in the flesh over here, and I can only imagine how much one might cost, but do any HOC members own one ? Are they really that good ?
H Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 A music shop near to me, Peach Guitars, stocks them. I'm planning a look (and hopefully a listen) in the next couple of weeks. Incidentally, I got the Heritage Eagle I've just posted about from Derek Peachie, former owner of Peach Guitars

Joe Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 A friend came back form NAAM raving about these. I was in the market at the time and found a local dealer who had some. We went and played what they had which was limited, no combos just heads and cabs. They sounded great but where pricey. I couldn't justify a purchase. I wanted a combo anyway.
golferwave Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 I have a 65amps "Rocket 88" head that I bought used. It's not one of their regular production models as it's equipped with a pair of KT-88 power tubes. I used it with several cabinets and then wanted to get a matching 65amps 2x12 cab so I spoke with Dan Boul at the factory and he recommended a Celestion vintage 30 and Celestion alnico gold pairing with this head so that's what I got. It's an awesome sounding amp and versatile from clean to high gain with a master volume on/off switch and front ef-86 "bump" level/tone controls along with high/low inputs. Way more amp than a weekend warrior like myself can do justice to. I'll post some pictures as soon as I can.
rjsanders Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 i've been hanging out on Dan Boul's lunch show for the last year or so. must say, if i didn't have a Heritage Colonial and a Juke Coda already, i'd get a 65amps Producer...

ridethatbike Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 He has a weekly show on youtube, and calls it his lunch show. I have yet to check one out, mainly because I need to refill the coffers before watching more 6 string porn.

I know what you mean by youtube and demos, had to unsubscribe from several channels as they were causing GAS pains.
rjsanders Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Thanks for the info. I know what you mean by youtube and demos, had to unsubscribe from several channels as they were causing GAS pains. this will surely add to GAS: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/london-pro-info more though, lots of tech info, interactive Q&A re amps & stuff via chat. past shows can be found above or on youtube. Wednesdays at noon (Pacific)

ridethatbike Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Agreed, very awesome. I may get a 3 Monkeys Sock Monkey though to go along with my Swart AST. I rather like it for a small home/jam session type amp.
SouthpawGuy Posted August 5, 2013 Author Posted August 5, 2013 They are very expensive and very awesome. Which ones have you played / used ?
SouthpawGuy Posted August 5, 2013 Author Posted August 5, 2013 A peach of a deal no doubt Must check to see if there's an Irish distributor Doesn't look like there is an Irish distributor, UK is the nearest. So basically take the US price and multiply X 2
SouthpawGuy Posted August 5, 2013 Author Posted August 5, 2013 That looks really well put together, thanks for posting the photos. .
GuitArtMan Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 There's always some killer tones comming out of the 65 amps booth at the LA Amp show in October. But I swear if I see Dan run his hand through his hair one more time...

Kuz Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Which ones have you played / used ? The "London" and the "Empire" were the ones that caught my ear....
