Good news Chicago folks. Just got back from Chicago Music Exchange...was talking with a sales rep and asked if they ever got Heritage axes in. To my delight I was informed that they just became/or are becoming a Heritage dealer...was told to check back in a month or so. I bought my Martin dread from CME several months ago and had a good experience dealing with them. Soooo looking forward to trying out a Prospect and 535! No one else in the Chicagoland area has any stock in.

So yeah, I'm calling first dibs right now.

CME will easily be the largest dealer in the Chicago area based on physical size. Their store is enormous. I will be eager to see what models they stock. If I'm not careful this can be very bad for my wallet.

And it's only 4 months or so until Christmas ! Order now and have one just in time for the holiday season ;)

That's very good news. They can afford to have models in stock that aren't flying out the door. It'll be interesting to see how they price them. CME ain't cheap. You're always sure to find it there, but you'll pay for it as well.

Hey, maybe we can get them to sponsor our winter muster.... hmmmmm.....

One other point....this is a shop that has DOZENS of vintage les pauls and 335's in stock AT ALL TIMES. Often selling guitars at over 6 figures. For the informed shopper wanting to play a 150 up against the holy grail...this will be THE shop. I'll be interested to see how they're represented by the staff.

Some rep just earned his stripes...

I bought a Fano while passing through there earlier this year. Great place and yeah, this will be one of the few stores out there where you can back-to-back a '59 Junior and an H-137.

Marv had mentioned to me several months back that Heritage had retained the services of a new marketing/sales rep firm.

I asked him Friday how it was working out and he said he said so far they were happy and sales seemed to be on the upswing.

Heritage already has a number of quality dealers, but let's hope some more shops are brought on board.

This seems to be a good start.

In Michigan, the following usually stock a few: Detroit Guitar: http://www.detroitguitar.com/catalog/index.phpmain_page=index&cPath=16&zenid=agrajve5rollao0b3g7u7ufll0;

Rainbow Music: http://www.rainbowmusic.us/ ;

Just stopped by there to ask them about they becoming a heritage dealer. I actually spoke with someone who was just closing the store at 4pm on Labor Day. So we talked outside the store.

He confirmed that CME became a dealer and he told me that they ordered 6 guitars to stock. He also told me they have a couple of used ones.

He seemed more excited than I was.

This might really be good news for our friends at Parson Street

As a Chicagoan and a Heritage fan, this is bad news disguised as good news. A mixed blessing, at best.

I somewhat agree. Some of the smallest dealers won't be able to compete. This may hurt some of the smaller dealers. OTOH, I've had problems getting quotes out of some of the local dealers when I was thinking of having a Millie custom made. But it's possible that CME will become more of a competitor to places like Wolfe than the smaller places.

I agree, CME is a pretty big outfit with an advertising budget. Love their ads in VGM.

CME is owned and run by a local multi millionaire that left whatever field he made a fortune in to open his dream music store. I was there today. The place was packed on a holiday. I witnessed no less than 5 sales in the 15 minutes I was there. The store has an unbelievable collection of instruments and a steady local and national clientele. They run one of the top repair businesses in the city. And they are in the process of building a decent web presence. They have a great location in one of the nicest neighborhoods in Chicago. CME is clearly filling a gap with their one location. And they don't even have a parking lot. You have to find street parking in an area with very limited parking.
