schundog Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Actually, I bought and paid for this over a month ago from RhodeScholar, but I just picked it up at PSP. He had dropped it off with Brent earlier this month, as he was unable to attend PSP this year. I knew going in that the 2 single coil pickups weren't working. Brent fiddled with it, and wasn't sure why, and Millenium Maestro did the same at PSP. I considered leaving it at the factory with Ren to work on it, but decided to just bring it home and have it worked on here. RhodeScholar (Bob) told me that a Stat is much more different than a Stratocaster than he would have thought, and I have to agree. Not better/worse, just different; larger body, it seems, set neck, angled headstock, Kahler Tremolo VS the claw and springs on a traditional Strat. This had a repaired headstock, but it was done so well you REALLY have to look for the break. Also, the locking nut doesn't appear to be holding the strings tightly. Suffice it to say, my tech has some work to do, but that's OK, I got this thing for a very good price, and I think it has the most beautiful flame of any Heritage I've ever owned. Here are some pics. Oops, High E is out of it's slot, I see!
DavesNotHere Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Yea baby! Welcome to the club! It is a sweet one Brian
DetroitBlues Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Looks nice, I didn't even notice the repair either. Congrats!
schundog Posted August 5, 2013 Author Posted August 5, 2013 Yea baby! Welcome to the club! It is a sweet one Brian Thanks, Dave! It WOULD have had a little brother (VIP) had Dana not been standing there when you made that offer that I wouldn't have been able to refuse!
DavesNotHere Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Thanks, Dave! It WOULD have had a little brother (VIP) had Dana not been standing there when you made that offer that I wouldn't have been able to refuse! Yea, we may need to work on that
SouthpawGuy Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Love those old Heritage rockers ! And it has a stinger too, way cool
HANGAR18 Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Yea, we may need to work on that I was looking real hard at the guitar you had for sale there too. But I'm in the middle of a different deal at the moment. Maybe if you still have it for sale next year....? Who knows?
FredZepp Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 That Stat plays well, and you're right it's not like a Strat. A bit of wiring and you'll have a winner there.... It's a fun axe to play.
schundog Posted August 6, 2013 Author Posted August 6, 2013 Yeah. It would have been fun to hear you crank up the amp we were testing this through after the festivities Friday night, but it WAS about 1 or 2 in the morning by then!
SouthpawGuy Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 So how does the switching work on the Stats ? I'm guessing on / off for eack pickup and the fourth switch splits the humbucker.
mark555 Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 You now have to do some eighties shredding! Happy new Stat Day!
schundog Posted August 7, 2013 Author Posted August 7, 2013 So how does the switching work on the Stats ? I'm guessing on / off for eack pickup and the fourth switch splits the humbucker. I'm guessing you are correct sir; I won't be able to answer definitively until I get it fixed! However, here is the mini-sell sheet on the Stat. This is hard to read, as it's so small, but I don't think I can upload PDF's to photobucket, so I had to scan it as a JPEG.
gpuma Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 25.5 scale? That seems odd. I am almost positive my Stat Deluxe has a 24.75 scale
RhoadsScholar Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Thanks for picking this up brian, right after i got it, DavesNotHear posted his acoustic so it was a quick turn around. I appreciate the transaction and it does have some pretty stunning flame and nice color. it will be a great guitar once you get it all dialed in
koula901 Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 With a 25.5" scale and a mahogany body, I wonder what that stat sounds like.

If one of these ever comes up in lefty I'm all kinds of fubared
schundog Posted August 8, 2013 Author Posted August 8, 2013 Of course I'm going to get the two other pickups fixed, but I'm having a ball with this thing with just the bridge pickup, the coil split and the tone control. I tightened down the locking nut, so tuning issues with the "stupid stick, aka whammy bar" are not an issue. I can see how the VIP would be a viable guitar even without the other two pickups. I recorded a couple vids on my iPad, but honestly, they were so bad and I looked like such a dork, I deleted them. Not that that stopped me from showing my ass (again) at PSP!!
Billgelder Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 I still think the program is the two mini switches. You can jump them out one by one with the humbucker off to test my theory.
