DetroitBlues Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Well, my job situation is rather interesting to say the least. If I'm lucky, I'll never have to file for unemployment. Which also means, there is an outside chance I'll have a significant sum of money in the process. So while I'm wishing for a great job to magically appear in the next few weeks, I've decided to ease my mind a bit and think about the possibility of ordering my first new Heritage.... My first Heritage has been my favorite one so far, I'm thinking of ordering one with the exact same specifications, except for a larger neck profile (just not as large as my Strat!) H-147 or 157 Bound Ebony Fretboard Mini Block Inlays MOP Logo and bound headstock One piece flame maple top One piece mahogany back Chrome Hardware Seth Lovers Belly Cut Weight Relieved My second option is: H535 Bound rosewood Fretboard Block Inlays Red Wine Flame Maple Gold Hardware Seth Lovers Bigsby
kidsmoke Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Gold hardware and a Bigsby? Wow, have you come a long way, Mr. Traditionalist! both sound great, may things work out in your favor. your playing certainly shows that you're worthy of such an axe, Josh.
DetroitBlues Posted August 5, 2013 Author Posted August 5, 2013 Bigsby's have been on LP's since the 50's as gold hardware... But when I said I really love my Epi Dot, this is the proof. The 535 I'm thinking of is just a slight difference from my Epi. The 147/157 is just like my first 140.
tsp17 Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 The power of positive thinking! It will happen. Go Josh! i vote for the 157
Ned Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 The 535 seems more unique - perfect for a custom build. Totally sounds like fun.
SouthpawGuy Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 A new build 147 would be something, when's the last time they made one of those ? And one made to your very own specs, now there's a thought.
DetroitBlues Posted August 5, 2013 Author Posted August 5, 2013 Technically, they don't make 147's anymore, but realistically, its a 140, just a lot more bling to it.
y2kc Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 DB, Those are two different animals , I would go with the 140. The Seth Lovers are a great choice! y2kc
SouthpawGuy Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Technically, they don't make 147's anymore, but realistically, its a 140, just a lot more bling to it. But what if a long standing HOC member could get them to make a 147 for the first time in years ?
Steiner Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 That sounds like a couple spectacular guitars. Have at thee...
Steiner Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 But what if a long standing HOC member could get them to make a 147 for the first time in years ? I doubt they'd go for it, lesson the orderee had above 13,000 or so posts.
SouthpawGuy Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 I doubt they'd go for it, lesson the orderee had above 13,000 or so posts. That's a lot of posts.
Spectrum13 Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 But what if a long standing HOC member could get them to make a 147 for the first time in years ? True
DetroitBlues Posted August 6, 2013 Author Posted August 6, 2013 I doubt they'd go for it, lesson the orderee had above 13,000 or so posts. Yes, I must admit its quite shameful...
Blunote Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 I don't think any H147 or H157 ever came with a belly cut. I think you'd have to eliminate the binding on the back. At that point maybe you're talking a Deluxe Ultra version. Of course, you might also think about a Millie Ultra Std.
Genericmusic Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 ...you might also think about a Millie Ultra Std. now that's a cool idea.

H Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 I'm going to come in from left field, DB. You're a big guy - the body size of a 140 looks tiny against you. The 535 is better proportioned for your height. Supporting evidence: you dumped the 140 after a short time and you've held onto the Epi for a long time. There's something about that whole body style that feels right for you.
HANGAR18 Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Your second option is actually a H555 with a Rosewood fretboard and unbound f-holes. Whatever you call it, I think you would like the semi-hollow better.

DetroitBlues Posted August 7, 2013 Author Posted August 7, 2013 Who should I go through to inquire about an order?
schundog Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Who should I go through to inquire about an order? Skydog52. Seriously, give him a call.
