CJTopes Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 This had probably been asked before but what is the average weight of the H-150LWs compared to the regualr H-150s? I have a H-150 now and it's just over 9lbs. I think I've been spoiled with my Millie DC cause that thing is super light. I've been thinking of selling my 150 and getting a LW but was wondering if the difference in weight is worth it.
Guest HRB853370 Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 My LW is around 8 1/2 lbs (guesstimate). There is a significant difference when picking it up compared to my regular 10 lb H150.
golferwave Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 Around 8 lbs. - give or take a few ounces would seem to be the average.
CJTopes Posted August 15, 2013 Author Posted August 15, 2013 Where do they "chamber" them? Are they cut out like a Millie?
Kuz Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 When you custom order a 150, you can put a weight limit on a solid body. They can't guarantee the weight limit, but they will search for a lighter piece of Mahogany. I did that on my 150GT and it came in at a shade under 9lbs. Personally, I would prefer a lighter weighted solid wood 150 over a "weight relieved" or "chambered" 150. YMMV
tulk1 Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 Where do they "chamber" them? Are they cut out like a Millie? That was a question I put to a certain someone at PSP. Seems the LW's may not be the same as the Millie semi-solids. Popular opinion was they were the same. So ........... still a mystery. At least to me.
SouthpawGuy Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 My 150 weighs 8.2lbs. It's a regular non light weight model, but it is if you follow my drift.
CJTopes Posted August 15, 2013 Author Posted August 15, 2013 Starting to think that getting a LW isnt going to help me much in the weight reduction.
Thundersteel Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 My LW was about 8-1/2 pounds or so, but since it was chambered, it had a nice woody tone to it. I preferred it over the solid models.
SouthpawGuy Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 My 157 is 7.2 lbs. I'm more than happy with it. I'm guessing that's a 157LW ?
HANGAR18 Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 My 157 is 7.2 lbs. I'm more than happy with it. I don't know how that would even be possible.
HANGAR18 Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Yes, my 157 is LW.I should have said 157 LW. That make sense. ~whew~

I don't hear any tone or sustain differences between my LW and my solid wood 150's. They both sound woody as they should since both are made of wood.

TalismanRich Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 You could always spring for a 140. My H140 is 8.06 lbs. My 535 is 8.11 lbs. My 157 is 9.5lbs. The Millie LE is the lightest by far at 7.57 lbs (7lbs 9oz)
CJTopes Posted August 19, 2013 Author Posted August 19, 2013 I've loooked into the 140's I'm not a fan of the florentien cutaway. I I would consider a 147. I've also thought about 535's and a prospect
SouthpawGuy Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 My 170 is 7.4lbs, it's an older one from '86.

I've also thought about 535's and a prospect 140 2nd Ed. doesn't have the Florentine. Well, the new Silverburst did. But production 140s now have the softer horn of the 150.
Buckyrock Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 My 2011 H-157CM-LW weighs 7.5 lbs. My 2012 H-157CM weighs 8.5 lbs. I asked for this one to be as light as possible while still being solid. Jim Deurloo gave me the impression that all 140s and 150s could be ordered with either a sharp or rounded cutaway.
