MartyGrass Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 I would like to plug my guitar into my laptop or Android tablet and listen with headphones. It would be nice to have a few effects and to practice to backing tracks and a metronome. I'd appreciate suggestions. Thanks.
Keith7940236 Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Native Instruments has a free version of Guitar Rig 5 that works pretty well. You need an interface for the guitar to plug into the laptop, but it isn't very expensive.
bolero Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 I think there is an android gtr amp thing out there...I forget the name though you could try: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.usbeffects&hl=en http://ghettoamp.com/ http://droidnext.com/amplitube-alternativ-app-for-guitar-lovers/ http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/irigrecorderandroid/ I haven't tried an yet though
SouthpawGuy Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Unrelated to Android is the Boss Micro Br 80 http://www.bossus.com/gear/productdetails.php?ProductId=1167 Runs on batteries, fits in your pocket. Totally stand alone, doesn't require a tablet or amp, just plug in headphones or connect to external speakers.

MartyGrass Posted August 22, 2013 Author Posted August 22, 2013 If I plug my guitar into the microphone jack on my laptop, do I need a second sound card to play to my backing tracks?
MartyGrass Posted September 3, 2013 Author Posted September 3, 2013 I got a Pandora Mini. It does what I want and so much more. I can plug my guitar into it and use headphones. I can run it into my laptop via USB. It has lots of modeled tones, rhythms, and a metronome. Importantly, it doesn't his like my Vox AC30 mini headphone amp and the other similar device I had used. Two thumbs up.
MartyGrass Posted September 3, 2013 Author Posted September 3, 2013 Here's an unsolicited endorsement. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32Wn6rGCZiw

DetroitBlues Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 That Tech 21 Trademark 30 is a rather small lightweight amp that actually has a gig bag to carry it in... Very interesting...

SouthpawGuy Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 pretty nifty! It's very cool, amazing what's in that tiny package. It can also play mp3s from the memory card, plus it has an aux in for connecting to an mp3 player or tablet / sequencer etc. The presets are a bit meh, like a lot of multi fx. A great practice tool for sure. I bought it to replace an ancient Zoom multi fx.
