yuominae Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 Hi all, I was asking about a set of black pickup rings last week and mister H from this forum kindly sent me a spare set he had. I wanted them for my naked H150 on which I am changing the hardware from cream to black. Here's what it was like before: And here's what it is like now: So... It think it looks cool, but what do you think? Yay or nay?
SouthpawGuy Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 I'd go with the cream rings. Or change the selector tip and knobs to black with black speed knobs. .
HANGAR18 Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 Both work just fine. One highlights the wood color where the other highlights the pickup color. Whichever you prefer is the right frame color to go with.
Kuz Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 I like the original best (cream rings) and I get some amber top hot or amber speed dial knobs. Maybe even black speed dials. It is your guitar, not mine, but I hate the reflector knobs, they look so cheap to me. But is just my opinion and not my guitar. What you like is best for you!!
Schroerg Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 Funny, I just did the opposite on a similar coloured Les Paul from that other company. Something bothered me over 10 years, but now I'm happy that I put the cream rings on. A matter of taste.
davesultra Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 I also like the crème rings, and am not a fan of reflector knobs.
Blunote Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 I'd go with the cream rings. Or change the selector tip and knobs to black with black speed knobs. . +1 That's what I was thinking. Black speed knobs & selector tip.
SouthpawGuy Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 +1 That's what I was thinking. Black speed knobs & selector tip. Great minds etc.
Millennium Maestro Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 I would have to say the black rings would look better with chrome pups... As it is I like the original cream rings!
DavesNotHere Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 They both look good, but if I have to choose I would choose the original.
holyroller Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Original,,,, but a set of flame maples might look pretty cool.
yuominae Posted September 9, 2013 Author Posted September 9, 2013 Wow, thanks for the input guys! So, more for the original then... lol Since I have a set of speed knobs to hand I'll get me black selector switch tip to go with those to see what I get. Will post back here for opinions when that is done

yuominae Posted September 9, 2013 Author Posted September 9, 2013 Or you could just get a 157 to put those on Come on dude, I'm not made of money I like the thought of that though... Maybe if I sell a Hamer and a H150 I could... Is it really worth it though? Seeing the other comments I think I might have to get covered pickups or get covers on the existing pickups... Or maybe I should change everything to gold hardware. Now that would be cool, wouldn't it?
yuominae Posted September 9, 2013 Author Posted September 9, 2013 Don't bother. We like the original!! ............. Yeah, there are more posts that say I should go back to the white pickup rings. But the reason I changed in the first place is because they really didn't work with the black pickups I thought. Covered pickups is really something I should look into for this one...
tulk1 Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 I was just kidding with you. Hey, it's your guitar!!
SouthpawGuy Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Some pics from the gallery of natural 150s Well, I slipped in a photo of a 157 as well
