Blunote Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 I don't have a PA in my living room. Must be a helluva big living room to need more than a few watts.
HANGAR18 Posted October 22, 2013 Author Posted October 22, 2013 I just want to be able to relive my 20's if the opportunity comes up. This involves at least one or two guitar players with 100 watts available for each. We crank out some hard rock/heavy metal; if I'm on the drums then I don't have to hold back on the volume. I figure we aren't doing it right if the neighbors don't call the cops about how loud we are. I think Big Bob is right. I should just get another amp for now. I had a PA once before but it wasn't loud enough to keep up and all I used it for was watching TV. I sold it because the speakers kept sparking and smoking. Peavey junk.

Maybe the "Made in China" Behringer junk would have worked better for you rather than the "Made in USA" Peavey junk, as you put it!
HANGAR18 Posted October 22, 2013 Author Posted October 22, 2013 Maybe the "Made in China" Behringer junk would have worked better for you rather than the "Made in USA" Peavey junk, as you put it! It used to be that Peavey was all I ever owned, but after the sparking/smoking episode I discussed the situation and the brand with two different people, the result being that I won't have anything to do with the brand anymore. One of the two fellas went into great detail regarding Peavey (amplifier) engineering while the other spoke from a retail industry insider perspective. Neither of the two conversations was very complimentary of the brand... to say the least. For me to call Peavey junk is just my opinion and thus it doesn't mean anything. Look at the bright side. You won't have me bidding against you for a Peavey amp on feebay.

yoslate Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 We have a tiny little jam room, about 25 x 12. ...and padded walls. More appropriate than even you realize, Bird....
Gitfiddler Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Installing more efficient speakers seem to be the best way to get more (clean) volume from an amp. But I'm no amp tech, so what do I know.

bolero Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 you could also hook it up to a bigger SLAVE power amp....this was popular back in the day line out of the small amp, into a 100w tube power amp, ( and cabinet ) which gave it more juice
