TalismanRich Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 Yeah, I am no mood for electricution! What s'matter Sparky? Losing your taste for new eye opening experiences? He said all the innards in these amps are Chinese crap and it just does not last. Isn't the Delta Blues and The Classic 30 still made in Mississippi? That's what it says on the back. I'm sure parts are sourced from all over the world, (although any country can make crap.) It sounds a bit like a cop out to me to blame everything on China. More likely its a difference between "modern" assembly methods vs the old handwired methods that he doesn't like. Peavey was always into modern assembly methods. I've got a Mackie 1400 amp that was well known for lousy ribbon cables and connectors. Piece of junk compared to my QSC. The Mackie was made in the US, it was just a weak design.
kbp810 Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 He sounds like he knows what he's talking about. A friend had this happen to his Classic 30 and it was the heater lines. Many of these cheaper tube builds have "ribbon wiring" which is not a good thing. Chinese crap is the kind way of saying it. Oh yeah, love me some ribbon wiring... nothing quite like thin fragile wires prone to breaking, hidden within a plastic ribbon that usually has to be significantly manhandled to perform even the simplest of repair tasks. Oh yeah, haven't lost any hair, sleep, or sanity here over ribbon wire breaks before. I talked to a tech here in Greenville who is highly regarded. He said it is not the fuse because my indicator lamp is lit. He thinks it is the heater rail something or other (whatever the hell that is). He will install an upgraded one in place of the stock one if that is what it is. He said all the innards in these amps are Chinese crap and it just does not last. I have seen amps where the pilot light tap is prior to the heater line fuse, so it may still be as simple as that... but more than likely your guy is right.
kbp810 Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 of course it will not help- it was a joke, an attempt at levity...and as i understand your comments, they are good for a laugh as well... Oh yeah - that was an "it's 4am and I've been up since 1am after 2 hours of sleep following a long day" kind of post, lol. It was intended to be read as a humor attempt.
Guest HRB853370 Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 Isn't a fuse cheaper? LOL Um, only if the fuse is the issue!
Guest HRB853370 Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 perhaps, but definitely not betterLOL! LOL!

Guest HRB853370 Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Amp is going to the tech today. He said one bad power tube could cause the rest to go out. Or it could be the internal heater fuse... We shall see! This is an authorized PV repair facility I got off the PV website.
