Hi,

I'm wondering if anybody can give me a bit of advice: I have a used, near-mint condition Heritage H150 Gold Top. I believe I bought in new in 1999. The serial number is 015811. Can anyone tell me what a fair price for this guitar would be? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Best,

Mark

Welcome! Your guitar has the older Schaller bridge, tailpiece, and pickups. Many around here see that as a negative, and would be figuring on changing out those parts if they got your guitar, so take that into consideration. I would say $1100-1200 would be a fair asking price, but that's just my personal opinion Good luck with your sale.

There should be a difference in price of a couple/few hundred dollars or so between the H150P (all Poplar body) and a H150 Special (Maple top with Poplar body).

Inside the plastic pot cover on the back of the body should say which model it is and that would be a good first step toward determining the used value.

Mark,

Actually, when the above poster said is incorrect. The Special is NOT poplar, it is a mahogany with a thinner body, no trap inlays. The P is for the poplar model. I had a Special just like what you have. Mine had a few dings in it and I snared it for around $900 a couple years ago. Here is a pic of it with my lovely daughter holding it. Oh, and even though what shundog said about the Schaller hardware may be shared by some, others feel the Schaller hardware is very high quality (which it is), it just looks a little bit outdated. Yours is a 1998.

I had an identical goldtop(150, K serial) with dots that had upgraded premium pickups and hardware cost me $900 with light playe wear and no abuse... The seller had a tough time selling it till I came along. My input...

They are great guitars!

Actually, the previously referenced "above poster" is not incorrect. :pottytrain1:

Why does the poster who responded to the above poster think that an H150 Special has a mahogany body and not a poplar body?

When I bought mine, I called some guy at Heritage Guitar, think his name is Bill Paige, not sure how much he knows but he should because he built the damn thing and told me it was maple, mahogany with a maple cap. The rim thickness is 1 5/8 instead of the 2".

I am prepared to believe you.

But I also know what I was told (regarding my specific guitar), and looking inside the pickup holes (whatever they are called) allows me to see a wood which doesn't look like Mahogany and the rim measurement on mine is 1 3/4". So perhaps the specs for the H150 Special are not exactly set in stone.

mine had a mahogany body... My ASSumption was 150P was poplar all the rest were built with mahogany.

True assumption
