Billgelder Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 I am very happy with the way my H-357 came out. The tuners, bridge and tailpiece will be replaced next week. Besides a miscommunication at Heritage {they put Jay’s hardware on my Guitar} It is exactly what I wanted. My guitar seems very light compared to others I have played; it weighs 8 lbs. 5oz. The pickguard and control cover match very well. The D shape neck is chunky chunky, as chunky as Big bobs 357 but very close. SouthpawGuy would you still call the finish Cranberry Red? Marv would not use Steinberger or Callaham hardware. I had to go with Grover Mini Locking Rotomatics tuners chrome and TonePros Model NVR2 bridge chrome. I got the Lollar Chrome Firebird pickups and Chrome Firebird Style Ring, But I had provide them myself. Here are the final specs. Heitage 357 Lollar Chrome Firebird pickups Neck & bridge, Single conductor wire, Chrome Firebird Style Ring. Grover Mini Locking Rotomatics tuners chrome TonePros Model NVR2 bridge chrome Tonepro T1ZSA “Aluminum Featherweight” Locking Tailpiece Gold speed Knobs FAT ‘58 style neck with mother of pearl trapezoid inlays. Please use Brazilian rosewood fret board blank, that was shipped on 6/3/2013 you should receive it on Thursday 6/6/2013. Please use the leftover rosewood to make truss rod cover. Wood pick guard, and backplate that matches the wood of the bout of the guitar. Dark cherry finish Finished, unpainted, headstock front and back More photos on my PB http://s1272.photobucket.com/user/billgelder/library/?sort=3&page=1
Guest HRB853370 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Very sharp! And yes, definitely cranberry red!!
slider313 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Real nice! Good move going with the "traditional" FB pickups. They just "belong" in that model, no matter who's building it!
kidsmoke Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Nicely done, all around. P'ups are great...and the Braz board....well that makes it a true gem. congrats. Anticipating the tone report!
skydog52 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 That is just Bad@$$ Bill ! Congratulations. Give us a tone report on those pups.
FredZepp Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 That one is a winner.. It'll look good under the lights when you play. And a traditional look but with the Heritage twist... nice job on the specs.
hinesarchtop Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 That is just beautiful!!!! I really like the matching pickguard. Enjoy
fxdx99 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Beautiful guitar. Very well appointed. Congrats!

Steiner Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Now's the time to tie it on the bumper and take her down the road to relic... Happy Beautiful New Heritage Guitar Day!
big bob Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 That turned out spectacular! I can't wait to A/B it with mine. I'm sure you will be more than happy with it. Nothing like the feeling of strapping a 357 on just letting her rip!
Billgelder Posted October 2, 2013 Author Posted October 2, 2013 Holy Cow! Did that come out nice or what? Congratulations on a nice custom. Keith just wait till you see the back of your Eagle. It literary took my breath away.

DavesNotHere Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Joining the club in a spectacular Fashion Bill!!!! It certainly turned out great! Marv's class of '13 is turning out to be something special.
Blunote Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Looks great Bill. You had me sworn to secrecy on this order. I'm assuming I can talk about it now. I really like the dark cherry finish on that one.
Billgelder Posted October 2, 2013 Author Posted October 2, 2013 Looks great Bill. You had me sworn to secrecy on this order. I'm assuming I can talk about it now. I really like the dark cherry finish on that one. Marv told me not to tell anyone, because mine will be the last one he makes. I later found out he has been saying that for 3 years.
Gitfiddler Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Hot Damn, that is a cool 357!! Brazilian Rosewood board on a '58 chunky monkey neck! Perfect. This, however, tops anything else............6/6/2013. Please use the leftover (Brazilan) rosewood to make truss rod cover.
DavesNotHere Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 Marv told me not to tell anyone, because mine will be the last one he makes. I later found out he has been saying that for 3 years. Yea, he says that to all of us. Marv and I were talking recently and I asked him "Seriously Marv, how many more 357s are you going to build?" and he replied "Well I guiess if people are going to keep ordering them I guess I'll keep making them"
