Cajun Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Just got a used Fuchs Blackjack 21 off of eBay - first generation (1 channel only). Two words - Super sweet! Killer tone!!!
MrB Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 I've been eyeing those for a while, the newer version, though. None available locally to try, but on the web, the D-Style overdrive channel sounds great. Is the clean sound very Fenderish, which is what I'm after, or more British sounding?
Cajun Posted October 10, 2013 Author Posted October 10, 2013 To my ear, it is more British than Fender sounding, but not overly chimey. Kind of a mix between them, leaning more on British. Which is interesting, since it has 6V6s. They advertise that it somewhere between Marshall and Trainwreck, but that is a large spectrum and mostly hype. It definitely is the best sounding amp I have owned, it sounds better than my Carvin (which is very similar to a Fender sound when clean). I'm no expert though - I have owned a lot more guitars than amps over the years so don't have a broad baseline.
HANGAR18 Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 it sounds better than my Carvin (which is very similar to a Fender sound when clean). Which Carvin amp?
Cajun Posted October 11, 2013 Author Posted October 11, 2013 Carvin Belair - which is a very decent amp.
tulk1 Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 Hmmm, I don't see any pictures of this alleged amp.
Cajun Posted October 11, 2013 Author Posted October 11, 2013 Guilty as charged... Pretty simple amp, but amazingly voiced.
