MartyGrass Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Most of these are old friends. Thanks to Jack and Rhoads for making this happen. H170 Goldtop Lightweight, 2nd Generation. This has a beefy neck alright and came stock with Seth Lovers. It's one of the most comfortable guitars I've ever played. And it's visually beautiful and complex.
MartyGrass Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 Next is a H157 VSB. This has 59s and is about 9 lbs. It also plays very well. I had forgotten how well! Next is a H157 Chestnut Sunburst. This now has HRWs in it.
MartyGrass Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 Next is a H555 Cherry. I haven't even plugged it in yet, but it's a fatso at 8.2 lbs.
MartyGrass Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 Next is my old Sweet 16. It has a Lollar Low Wind pup and is a dynamo acoustically.
MartyGrass Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 Last one is a H157 Natural Ultra. It has black sides, neck, and back. The pups are a 59 in the neck and a Seth at the bridge. Jack put the poker chip on it, which makes all of the difference.
MartyGrass Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 Well, all of these landed in the last few days. There is one more still en route. That's an Engel. Then that's it. No more fer sure.
schundog Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Incredible, Mark! I think the natural 157 and "Fatso" triple-nickel are my favorites.
TalismanRich Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Absolutely LOVE that natural 157. It kinda makes me wish I had ordered mine that way so long ago.
koula901 Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 I gotta say that the 157 is my favorite too.
bolero Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 ....Gobsmacked!!! what a bunch of guitars.....congratulations happy new guitar army day
JackBaruth Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 I hated to let that natural 157 go but it does have quite the thin neck...
H Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 What a fantastic collection! Rebalancing the hollow/solid ratio?
skydog52 Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Then that's it. No more fer sure. Ha Ha. I'm not drinking that Kool Aid. Nice collection! Congrats on NHsGD.
Guest HRB853370 Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Keep the ball rolling yer just gittin started!
RhoadsScholar Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 That VSB 157 is one of the best I have ever played. It was hard to let that one go..... you ended up with some great instruments there.
Redsand Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Congrats on your newly assembled platoon of guitars! How does one decide which guitar gets the nod on the daily?
buzzy Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 They are all great guitars. I can understand a momentary loss of reasoning if you're overwhelmed by these four savory flavors, but I hope you'll come to your senses. Maybe if you had more guitar stands or wall hangers, then you wouldn't need to be 'done' . . . The 170 is my favorite.
Gitfiddler Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Wow, I'd call this the Marty and Jack "Gitfiddle Swap Meet"!
JackBaruth Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Wow, I'd call this the Marty and Jack "Gitfiddle Swap Meet"! Everybody wins. I manage to reduce the clutter in my house and Marty shuffles off the humidity-sensitive spruce-tops to me a few days before it's time to turn the heat on!
MartyGrass Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 What a fantastic collection! Rebalancing the hollow/solid ratio? It's a philosophical change. I'm returning to my electric guitar roots. I'm sure I'll flip flop some more.

Yooper Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 Man, you two guys could host quite a Heritage exhibition with your combined collections. I'm happy for both of you and your temporary GAS remission.
