Is a 25th anniversary better than a regular production heritage? Why?

I have no clue. I own one, and it has a very flamey top and back, but other than that, and the 25th anniversary TRC, not sure!

The limited numbers of its edition and the associated decoration on the guitar's TRC lend it some cachet perhaps. I'm not sure I'd pay much over the odds for that though.

Are they any better? No. Fancier? Perhaps.

The 30th? What about the specs?

I don't know what they'll do to commemorate the 30th but I'll bet it will be something special. I don't think most of the owners will still be working for the 35th anniversary, so this might be the send off for them.

On the other hand, those guys still could be at it.

And, at my current rate of savings, maybe I should plan on a 100th Ani, but, I'd like to think my 150 is special, though I've seen plenty of tops prettier than mine and I think there are a few non-25ths from Jay with similar specs.

The specs I copied from a familiar website:

Year: 2011

Manufacturer: Heritage

Model: H150CM 25'th Anniversary

Case: Original Hard

Color: Vintage Burst

Description: No.29501 is a 25'th Anniversary Edition H150CM, with many Wolfe spec upgrades, including- special Long Neck Tenon, Honduran Mahogany body, Deep Dish carved top of No. Michigan Maple, Duncan matched pair Seth Lover Humbuckers, TonePros bridge & stop Bar, CTS control pots w/ Spraque caps, real Nitrocellulose Lacquer finish, Grover adjustable for tension keys, engraved truss rod cover, Label and parchment certificate signed by the Heritage Masters, cream binding, real Mother of Pearl inlays (NOT Plastic!) and Heritage's logo hardshell case.

Yep, I agree. I got a bad feeling that the boys are going to give Heritage 30 wonderful years and then call it quits. No press release, no blog, no web site update..... they will call each other on their rotary phones the night before and tell each other that's it, keep the doors locked for good.

Like it or not, with each day that passes we approaching this ultimate conclusion . Heck, it might even be Jan 1st 2014. Let's just say, I am glad I got my Heritages in the stable.

This isn't Gibson, all heritage guitar have the same outstanding quality weather its a h-137 ("aka les paul special") or a h-150 ("aka standard")

Keep the doors locked for good? Well, that is really optimistic thinking John! Why do you think they have been training a young skilled workforce for the last 6 or so years? It certainly is not to lock the doors for good. You may be correct about Marv, Jim, Bill and Ren hanging up their tools, but Vince is still the managing partner and his vision when he took over was to keep the Company going well after the inevitable retirement of the founders. I could be wrong, but I hope that I am not!

Do you think then we'll be talking about "pre-retirement" guitars and "post-retirement" ones?

Who knows. I hope the business just doesn't die. On the other hand, I would really hate to see it be sold to a company who would keep the name only and cheapen the product. Its sad to think that the employees (not the owners) are not being trained to carry on. I certainly hope they are. There will never be another Marv, Jim or Ren that's for sure!

The guitars worth investing in will be

Pre-CBS Fender

Pre-Norlin Gibson

Pre-Peavey Heritage

Would you rather that Henry J add it to his collection (Epiphone, Cerwin Vega, Staton, Onkyo, Slingerland, Baldwin, Wurlizer, Valley Arts, Steinberger, Kramer, KRK, etc)? I'm sure it would suffer the same fate as Flatiron Mandolin Co.
