yuominae Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Hi all, I have a H150P which I'm thinking about refinishing. Would be child's play in the US I assume, but I'm in Germany at the moment... I just got a quote for 800 Euros and might as well buy a new H150 for that price. Do any of the European members here know of a good place to send a guitar for a refinish? I don't mind posting outside of Germany as long as it stays in the EU to avoid import charges again. Saying that, if it was very cheap to get a good refinish outside of the EU I might consider that too. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
H Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Hi David, there's a guy in the UK, Martyn Booth, who does this kind of work I believe. He also makes very good guitars which you can find on the web by searching for his name. He's ex-Gibson and ex-Yamaha and a very nice bloke - Jimbob and I spent a great afternoon at his workshop near Colchester last year. Another ex-Gibson guy in the UK is Robbie Gladwell - I don't think he refinishes guitars personally but he'd know where to get that done as he's well known in the UK for Gibson repairs. His workshop is just outside Colchester. He was my guitar teacher for a while and is part of the band Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel.
