Tim Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 So tomorrow, I am going to pick up a mint H-530 with Seth Lover humbuckers vs. the standard P-90 configuration. When I play hollowbodies, I am more of a jazz kind of guy. Thoughts?
Horace Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Lucky you! Let us know how it sounds. I've been thinking that humbuckers in a 530 is a great way to go. A lighter weight than a 535 or 555 is very appealing. Enjoy it!

Vanschoyck Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 My thoughts? Mostly pure envy! But I'm with everyone else that wants to see pictures.
H Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 A great combination! If you decide you'd like a P90 sound, Phat Cats will drop in there nicely
Tim Posted November 1, 2013 Author Posted November 1, 2013 So the guitar sounds fabulous and is a great addition to my Heritage collection. It is hard to put down. As soon as I get time to polish it up, I will post a pic or two (as soon as I can figure out how to do THAT). Fun stuff
barrymclark Posted November 1, 2013 Posted November 1, 2013 530 and ES330 are great for jazz in my opinion.
Vanschoyck Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 530 and ES330 are great for jazz in my opinion. Didn't Emily Remler use a 330 with the p90's replaced with hum buckers?

Spectrum13 Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 Looks more like a 535 with the stop tail which makes more sense than a trap. Wonder why Gibson built the 330 with P90's and never offered buckers.

Wonder why Gibson built the 330 with P90's and never offered buckers. Noticed that too...I do have a Gibby ES 135 with the trapeze tailpiece. Doesn't really matter to me though. It is a different kind of 530 and that is one of the reasons I was drawn to it.
Billgelder Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 Looks more like a 535. Is it semi hollow or hollow?
Tim Posted November 2, 2013 Author Posted November 2, 2013 Looks more like a 535. Is it semi hollow or hollow? Definitely hollow. Very unique.
H Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 Definitely hollow. Very unique. Is there a block underneath the bridge and tailpiece?
big bob Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 Is there a block underneath the bridge and tailpiece? I'm curious as well, I can't figure out how a full hollow guitar could have a stop tailpiece?
Tim Posted November 2, 2013 Author Posted November 2, 2013 Good point. Yes, I need to take a closer look (although if you look at the label inside the guitar, it says H-530 with Seth Lovers...mislabeled?). No time now though. Will check later.
