big bob Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 I was practicing this afternoon, really getting into it when BANG! It broke! Just Broke! Check it out
davesultra Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Pics are a bit of a blur. What exactly are we looking at?
davesultra Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 After closer inspection I'd say. Grab a new "A" and be on your way!?
TalismanRich Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 I don't think that it can be repaired. You might consider making a small plaque and donate it to the Hard Rock in Tampa. I'm sure they would mount it right behind the bar in a very prominent position!
tulk1 Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 You do actually have to change the strings from time to time. Think of it as an "upgrade". You know, like everyone else. Change one thing on a stock guitar and its an upgrade. So, upgrade your strings by putting on a new set. It'll be like new, only better.
111518 Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Move the E string to A, tune to G, and use it as a Stones specialty guitar. You've got plenty with six strings.
hinesarchtop Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 You ought to send it back to the factory for new strings or just ask for a refund.
Billgelder Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Your right it is ruined, but I think I can help you. I give it to me and I should have it repaired in time PSP.
JohnCovach Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 I once had a parent come into the guitar store where I taught and complain that his son's guitar needed to be tuned. When told that all guitars are like that, he wondered why they just didn't solder the strings to the tuning pegs to keep them in tune.

Vanschoyck Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 That chord should be under warranty, shouldn't it? A chord? Wire? Cable? These terms are so confusing. We are joking around, right?
big bob Posted November 16, 2013 Author Posted November 16, 2013 Well the. String was not long enough to solder back together. What I ended up doing was using the longer end and soldering it directly to one of the screw heads on the pickup. I'm not sure I like how it sounds, it kinda just makes a thumping sound, but I'm gonna give it some time, maybe I'll get use to it!

davesultra Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 So you think I might be able to solder the string back together? You should be able to repair it with JB Weld. You'd really hate to loose that string wire in case you want to ever sell it. A non original wire would just kill the resale value. You know how picky those vintage collectors can be.
DetroitBlues Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 It's ruined! Guess you have to send it to me, and I'll give it a proper burial in my man cave. It shall be entombed forever..
heritagefan7 Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 Did someone say you can replace strings wires? Who knew? Wow!
Steiner Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 If I suffered such a catastrophic event, I'd just give up and take up something safe, like synchronized swimming.
