HI guys,

So I am considering a Heritage Les Paul but I'm having a bit of trouble.

Well I want something that sounds close to a Les Paul standard so if you can recommend something would be great.

And I dont know if I should get a heritage is because Im still in my teens and I cant really shell out 1k so I have a problem.I dont work so money is either from gifts, parents or pocket money(which is basiclly my parents)and we arent that financly great. The upside is the heritage dealer here is a big friend of mine and will let me do a deposit on the guitar and i can pay when ever I want to and as much as i want.

So what do you think should i get this guitar?or wait and get something else?

Thx guys I appreciate it.

I would buy a used one

seriously, they are on par ( or better IMO ) than a $3,500+ custom shop Gibson...and if you look for a factory 2nd Heritage, you can probably find one for less than $1k

it will kick the snot out of a Gibson

Keep a regular eye peeled on the HOC, here:

Really nice used pieces pop up often, many of which are owned by, or known to, people who post here regularly. You won't find any more or any better advice and experience on Heritage guitars than right here. I won't slag Gibson. A good Gibson Paul will be a good guitar. But the consistency with which they turn out good instruments is questionable. If you're going that route, you'd likely have better luck, and find a better instrument per dollar with Epiphone. But I'd make the same argument for Heritage. More money (than for an Epiphone, less than for a Gibson) for demonstrably more guitar, and a higher build quality and consistency with Heritage. Happy hunting. Oh, and with Heritage, it's a 150 or a 157, not a Les Paul. Gibson owns that name.

I'd echo the 'used' recommendation and the Epi, however, I sometimes wish I would've waited, saved and sought out Heritage guits instead of settling for my Epi's

Don't overlook the H140. Its a "slimmer" version of the 150, or in Gibson's line, in the midst of a std LP and an LP jr or Special. Slimmer lighter body, but has the maple cap. They ROCK and you can find them for under a grand if you watch.

Look out young man we are, for the most part, old enough to be your dad. Wow, there is a Cadillac commercial here somewhere. I bought my daughter a used 137 for Christmas a few years ago. Tell your dad this. Shame him. ;^)

By all means check the for sale section here. Most of us have met each other face to face so we have to be honest. If you want a guitar that will last a life time a Heritage is just the thing.

That's exactly the guitar you need. The H-150 is a machine!

Well ill take a look at my dealer he has a 2005/6 tabacco sunburst h150 with a hard case for like 1500eur with vat

you think its a fair deal?I can buy it with a deposit so it wont make me wait too much

You should be able to find one cheaper than 1500. Where in Europe are you?

I'm in the UK and they show up on eBay here fairly often in the £1000-£1200 range.

Buying an H150 is "doing it right the first time" and it is cheaper in the long run than buying an Epiphone first and then buying a Heritage later.

Follow the guidance from H, he won't steer you wrong.

In context, he will be able to help you find a good price in Europe.

Everyone else here is also giving you good advice as well.

That's $2033, US, for a new Heritage 150, case, and 18% tax! That may be a deal!

This is the 2005/6 guitar you were referring to at the start of the thread? Seems like the deal is there and tailored to your finances. Try it out, they're great guitars :)

The neck on mine is at least as thick as the ones on my 157 and 535.

The body is slimmer. The H140 1 5/8" thickness at the rim and 12 1/2' wide, compared to the H150 being 2" thick and 13" wide, Its about 1 1/2 to 2 lbs lighter with the thinner body and the belly cut. But its still a solid body, mahogany/maple body with a mahogany neck.

Hehe ill try to get some

You had better. Best to have them up front. If somebody posted that I had died people wouldn't believe it with out photos. Neither would I.

By the way, my people didn't come to America because we wanted to be free. The Brits kicked us out because they wanted to be free of us. I understand why.
