Talk to me about the Heritage Groove Master

What do you guys know about this model? It's intriguing because it looks like a laminate version, with some bling, of a 575. I've always wanted a laminate 575, to really get the 175 sound. Anyone have or play one of these?

Kenny Burrell refers to this as his "student's" guitar. I'm sure it would meet your ES-175 needs. They are about the same guitar. The Burrell tends to have a single pup, which would meet most everyone's needs. And it's generally nice looking than the 175.

I have a 576 which is very similar on construction. It is my gigging guitar and pictured in my avatar (see left). Great 175 sound. Spot on. Groovemaster has an ebony fretboard which I like a lot. Was looking for a Groovemaster but couldn't pass up this 576 so I bought it instead. Very happy with it.

The Groovemasters generally come with rosewood boards. The H576 were dropped just prior to the Groovemaster arrival.

Mark is right as usual. i was thinking of a 575 MH.

So the 576 and Groovemaster are are the more similar in build and sound. The 576 is the closest I have heard to a 175 sound. Pickups will influence as well of course. I use Bendetto A6.

How about the 574? Same thing?

I think so. I believe a 576 is just a 574 with more aesthetic appointments, e.g., binding etc. anybody want to confirm or correct that?

I wanted that orange 574, but am very, very happy that I scored my 20 year old amber 576. My favorite guitar to play out. Less expensive than a Groovemaster too. So Duane you may want to keep an eye out for a 574 or 576 as well as a Groovemaster. Groovemaster is super cool though. Would be a great guitar to own.

I've never seen a Groovemaster before. I'm assuming that there's not a lot of them around?

Check ebay and do a search on Gbase.com. There is often one on the market somewhere.

Gbase has a 2006 Grioove Master in natural with a P90 for $1,600

I've always wanted to order one their laminate guitars that have the floating center block, but have traditional bracing with a wooden bridge. I think an H550 like this would be a bit more open and woody like an ES350.

My local dealer has a single pickup Kenny Burrell Groovemaster on close-out at $1899. They have had it in inventory since 2009. It used to have pride of place in a glass showcase, but now it hangs in the corner of their acoustic room.

Is this a good deal? I really like the guitar.

I haven't done a lot of pricing and I don't know if there are any upgrades, but that sounds not too far of what wholesale would be.

I managed to let it slide through the holidays, and even the first part of the year.....but I had to go back. And my dealer still had the Groovemaster at a decent discount.

I think they have dropped Heritage guitars. They are the same dealer that originally sold my Sweet 16 to my friend a few years ago, and I bought it from him later.

I couldn't leave the poor thing hanging there. Played and sounded too nice. So I just placed a deposit on it Thursday. Should have it in my hands in a few weeks. Can't wait!

Oh boy! Congratulations. Can't wait to get your assessment after you had her home for a bit.

Congrats on the Groovemaster! I enjoyed the 574 immensely. Again, glad that it stayed in the HOC family. 576 is real gem as well and I understand that it is the same as 574 w/ addl' appointments.

I had to bring back this thread. Does anyone have any videos of the this guitar? I would love to hear how it sounds compared to a 575. I've heard that it is woody and dark, like an old 175, which is exactly what I would like. I have a 575, and love the sound, but the Groovemaster might REALLY be up my alley!

Picked up the Groovemaster the other day. I went in to make a payment, and the dealer says he'll give me another $100 off to pay it off. He needs to pay his end-of-month bills. So I jumped on it.

Dealer has been a Heritage dealer forever (this guitar is a new-old-stock 2006), and this was his last Heritage in stock. He tells me that he's tried to order a couple more, but no one responds to calls or emails. He tells me that they are down to 4-6 employees in K'zoo now. As the old guys go, there are apparently no youngsters to step in.

Anyway, I tried to attach a couple of photos, but it's not cooperating today. Great guitar, really like it. I'll bring this one and my Sweet 16 to the barn in August.
