I seem to recall someone saying that VSB was the definitive colour for a 150. They were right! (In the interests of full disclosure I should add that I have a 150 VSB...)

Pretty sure that was me. And it's true!

This guitar ended up wintering in Kalamazoo. There were a couple of things to be addressed, so I dropped it off at Moreno's shortly before Christmas. Pete knew it wasn't urgent, so the time spent hasn't been a big deal. Stopped in while I was in town yesterday to see it in process in such capable hands. I'm really looking forward to getting her back in a couple of weeks.

What is he doing to her?

in the photo, he's scraping the new fretboard binding. I had it replaced. There was a flaw that somehow got out the door, didn't affect the guitar mechanically at all, the thing was perfect. It just bugged me and since I'm close enough to "the source" I elected to get it addressed. Also there was a, ahem, surface blemish, on the rim, introduced by a previous owner, that I decided to get addressed as well. I love the neck, the top, the p'ups. It's perfect for me in the important aspects, so it was worth the reasonable added time and expense. Pete's workmanship and rates made the decision an easy one.

Great call on the remod...that's a gorgeous looking guitar!

There is a good chance that H-150 will be a lifer.

it looks even better if you see it in person!

Beautiful! I want to inquire about an acoustic guitar refinish. I love your new avatar btw gpuma!

guys, I'm all about sharing vendor frustrations, but this is kind of a bummer of a thread veer.

For the record -roller, I believe you've got the refinish to purple happening? That thing has progressed significantly since I was there last and was right by his bench with your drawing of the three variations of finish you had in mind, and was sanded free of it's former color. Dude is buried, and he's well past retirement age and working in a pole barn in his backyard. The day we stopped in, his compressor had fried and he'd spent the morning chasing down parts and getting that going. Nice that the weather has broken, cuz it means he can spend less time feeding the woodstove with fragments of guitar tops to keep warm...no heater in the barn, you understand. I kind of took all this into account when I dropped it off, not expecting nor receiving a claim ticket with a stated lead time. I'd have liked mine back a while back as well. I've called and had several convo's with him, never saying more than "how's it going" just to let him know I'm excited about getting it back in my hands. In the end, I'm honored to have the job done right by the same guy the Gibson Custom Shop in Memphis sends guitars to.

back on topic....ain't she pretty?
