Want to try P90's in my H575 custom

Hello all. I'm new to the forum. Just have a question. I currently have 2 HRW's in my H575 Custom and was thinking about replacing them with 2 Lindy Fralin P90's. Just wondered if anyone has put a set of P90's in a similar Heritage model arch top jazz box and if you liked them. Thanks

Welcome to the HOC :)

HRWs are humbuckers - are the Fralin P90s humbucker size?

Thanks H.

I think Fralin makes a set of P90's that fit most any guitar. I still have to do some more research. I have a set of Lindy Fralin's in my Strat and a set of Fralin humbuckers in a custom made Les Paul-ish guitar and I love both sets.

I have a 575, with prails, basically a humbucker made out of a p-90 and a rail coil. I can play it as either a humbucker, a rail coil, or a p-90. I would say I keep her set on p-90 most of the time. If you like the p-90 sound, you can't go wrong with a p-90 575!

Thanks Big Bob.

That helps out a ton. I was hoping someone already had a 575 with P90's and would chime in and help me pull the trigger on the P90's.

I've got a 535 with a set of humbucker-sized P90s loaded. They're Seymour Duncan Phat Cats and I'd recommend them.

I don't know what sound you're looking for but P90s make a beautiful noise :)

I also have SD Phat Cats (in a Millie 155). Love them. Lots of range. I set the neck tone at 10 and the bridge tone at 1, dime out the volume and she sounds mean when the overdrive is on. Go clean and set everything to 5 (nickel'ed?) and she's clear, mellow and sweet. If I had to live in a world with only one type of pickup, it would be a p90 world.

I have P90's in a 575 but it has been modded ( non destructively ) to allow the soapbars to fit

it sounds REALLY good...I'll see if I can dig up pics

I have a 525 with P90s. Great sound, different from a humbucker. I used it a lot at PSP this year and played everything from Sleepwalk to One Way Out and Elizabeth Reed with it. I was a little hesitant to crank it up at first, but the more time I spent playing, the better it got. It got nice in gnarly going through the Tubescreamer into my Patriot.

Wow that has the same beautiful natural maple grain my 575 has. Thanks, now I can see how mine will look with P90 dog ear in black. I found out Fralin doesn't make a P90 that will fit directly into a humbucker ring. I'll have to go with a dog ear I guess. Thanks to all again.

But why not Phat Cats?

I have a set of stock wound Fralins in my strat i dropped in ten years ago and a stock set of humbuckers in a custom made guitar and I really like the tones out of both.

That is a sweet looking rig there. The black dogears look great on it! I have a thing for natural finish

archtops and big flame!!!

Have you ever tried a spacer under the rear dogear? I really like what they do for the bridge tone, and they are CHEAP!!! http://www.lollarguitars.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=LGP&Product_Code=301&Category_Code=pickup-accessories
