Number8 Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 I bought my first Prospect last year and it has the absolutely perfect neck for me. Kind of thick, kind of wide. I've owned/played a lot of Heritage guitars since then and some have come close but none have duplicated the feel. I bought another Prospect and opened it this morning. It has the exact same neck. Which leads me to ask, does Heritage have a standardized neck size for their different types of guitars? I was thinking (perhaps naively) that they made necks of certain specifications (e.g. maple + rosewood + 25.5 scale) and that these were essentially interchangeable between types. So, did I just get lucky or are they making these things from a Prospect-specific mold?
PunkKitty Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 I think you just got lucky. The neck on my Prospect is on the chunky side. But my old Prospect had a thin neck. You have to post pics of the new guitar. If you don't, we'll think that you bought an Epiphone.

Number8 Posted November 30, 2013 Author Posted November 30, 2013 so otto, i guess, hope your happy... Indeed. Thank you David. (I sent you an email this morning.) Best - Otto

schundog Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 I own PKs old Prospect, and the neck is, as she said, on the thinner side. I still really like it, the 59s are a good fit for this guitar. Congrats on the new one, Otto. Any reason, other than our mutual H obsession, for the duplicate purchase?

This one has my much coveted Lollar p90s installed. My other has '59s, which deserve praise of their own. Having said that, it is likely that I am Prospect obsessed. They seem to just be the right "fit" for me. If I come across another one with this neck profile, I will have a hard time not buying it.
tulk1 Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 I think you just got lucky. The neck on my Prospect is on the chunky side. But my old Prospect had a thin neck. Same here. My first one was rather thin, altho' it sounded great. My Custom has the fatter neck. Love it for these old hands.
davesultra Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Seems that particular Prospect is making the rounds.
Number8 Posted December 1, 2013 Author Posted December 1, 2013 Seems that particular Prospect is making the rounds. How about it...I doubt there are many Heritage gits out there with "AD" serial numbers that are on their 5th owner already!
Number8 Posted December 1, 2013 Author Posted December 1, 2013 Where are all the pics? I'm going for a cream motif and I need to score some pickup covers. I'll post pics once I have those in.
tulk1 Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 This is the '99 with the thinnish neck. There is no label anywhere on this guitar. Not the best pic, but this is the Custom order with a '50s fatter neck. My favorite Heritage guitar.
H Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 Not the best pic, but this is the Custom order with a '50s fatter neck. My favorite Heritage guitar. That's a beauty, Tulk
Number8 Posted December 1, 2013 Author Posted December 1, 2013 That's a beauty, Tulk Indeed. Gorgeous.
skydog52 Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 Mine is a medium C. Kind of typical Heritage these days.
schundog Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 I'll join the Prospect pic lovefest. PK put brand new Grovers on this before she sold it to me. It's bumped and bruised, some scratches and bumps on the headstock and the neck, but I really dig it a lot more than I thought I would. I was taking these pics out back a few minutes ago, and the nosy old fart that lives behind us was smoking on his deck, and watching me. "Selling it?" he yelled. "Hell NO!" I smiled and told him.

If I ever buy another H semi, it would be a Prospect. After all, 100,000 supporters cannot be wrong!
schundog Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 Some of the bumps and scratches, along with an idea of the neck profile.
bolero Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 I had a prospect for a while, the neck was pretty much the same as my 535 I do regret selling that thing!!
