Markohio2112 Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Had my 2013 H150CM Plek'd on the 15th and I was well worth the time and money spent. The amount of neck data that is recorded and interpreted is beyond the scope of the typical dime store luthier.
soybean Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 Guys, if you are considering getting a guitar Plek'd, make sure you have plenty of fret height. I had a Telecaster done and the result was wonderful except the frets are pretty low now. The guys at the shop said next time, get the guitar re-fretted first. Admittedly, this was an older Tele.

Excellent point. When I had my 157 plek'd, it was AFTER it was re-fretted by the same luthier. The only reason it was re-fretted was because the original owner custom ordered 'fretless wonder' small frets. Yuck!! Now the 157 is an amazing player with nice tall, even frets.

I have had at least 8 guitars PLEK'd locally and never noticed a big difference in loss of fret height. Sounds like you might want to get a different luthier or Plek guy.
HANGAR18 Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 When I had mine plek'd, I did specifically mention that I was interested in having only the most minimal amount of material removed in order to get the action right.
Kuz Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 Like anything else luthier related, Plek is only a tool and as good as the person programming/using this tool.
