This is an update to the thread about my Stat that had two non-working pickups. To make a long story short, RhodeScholar, who sold me the guitar offered me a free loaded Strat pickguard because he felt bad about the pickups not being fixable, according to my tech. Now, I KNEW the deal on the guitar when I bought it, and got a great price on it, knowing that it needed some work. Still, Bob sent me pickguard, refused any payment, and agreed to let me buy him a couple beers and do some songs with him next year at PSP. Great guy.

Forgive the horrible sound quality of the videos. Shot with my ipad, and I was just too loud, I guess. I assure you, it sounded pretty good in person. Now the PLAYING, on the other hand....

Sounds, great. Glad those pickups worked out. A lot of versatility. I think we'll be doing some 38 special at the HOC, drinking Oberon. Doesn't get any better than that "HOLD ON BRUCE LEE, and DON'T LET GO" :icon_santa: Hoping to bring some good karma to the HOC bretheren

Nice. I have a guitar that mostly covers those bases and only wanted a Stat a little bit but that sounded great. I'm also a bit of an amp snob (a lot of that is just a USA built thing) and always kinda dismissed that head but even through my iPhone it sounded good. I may have to check one out. The tone starts at the player and you will rarely hear me say this but nice, smooth playing that demonstrated the guitar well. I learned that one a long time ago after buying an $1,800 head and getting out toned by a mile by a friend at a show who was playing the Marshall Valvestate 8100 I just sold him for $250. Congrats, seems like a killer score. It looks and sounds great.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. I'm going to get to figure out how to get a truer sound recording with the pad sometime in the future.

Well, I tried a few videos tonight with a lower volume rig, my Fender Mustang III modelling amp (yeah, yeah, yeah..... :icon_biggrin: ). My hope was to avoid ridicule at the playing, and show how the guitar sounds, haha. Here it is on a Fender Tweed Deluxe setting attempting some SRV.....

Here I switched the amp settings to be more "60s British," a Vox emulation, I believe. Again, just trying to show the range of the guitar. It certainly gets loud and knarly, but sounds pretty good on the cleaner stuff, too.

Dude!!!! That's awesome! I'm glad you got working.

What are the pickups you put in the STAT?

No matter what, even a 357, I still come back to my STAT.

That is one of Marv's.

Thanks, Dave! Bob thought the pickups in the pickguard he so graciously gave me had Fender Tex-Mex pickups in it. I kept the Schaller humbucker in it. I really like it. It's so different from my other Heritages, and my Fender Strat, for that matter.
