Heritage Models Tone Comparison. Warning, YouTube Content

I did these recordings last night with my ipad and my Fender Mustang III set on a "British 60s" amp setting, which I believe is their Vox AC30 model. I should have checked. I just wanted to see how the different Heritage models sounded on this setting, both pickups on, volume/tone all the way up on the guitars. Very different tones, as expected. Not great video, but a fun experiment, nonetheless. If you listen through, you'll be as sick of my playing and "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" as I was, but I wanted to play the same thing through all of the guitars for a fair comparison.

The Stat was on the neck pickup. Most of these are strung with D'Dario 10s.

 

The Prospect has SD 59s.

 

The 575 has Schallers and is strung with D'Dario Chrome 11 flatwounds.

 

The 525 has Lollar P90s and is strung with 10s: needs 11s.

The 150 has LIndy Fralins and is strung with 10s... And is out of tune....Sheesh!

I applaud your comparison of the different guitars. If my computer had decent speakers it would help a lot.

Can certainly hear the Vox-ish jangle in all of the vids. No favorite. But .... the Prospect, uh .... yeah!!

I felt the the 525 sounded the most "authentic" for lack of a better description.

If my computer had decent speakers it would help a lot.

 

I've got some brand new Bose computer speakers which sound incredible. I highly recommend them. (The newer model which has a replaceable speaker-to-PC cable.)

they all sounded very similar on my speakers, maybe due to the cellphone mic? did they sound dramatically different while you were playing them?

Very cool comparison videos, man! Loved the comparison vids between the 575 and 525.

 

If and when I ever get up the dough to order a guitar, one of the models in strong consideration is the 525.

525 was the clear "winner" to ears... Regardless, the iPad's built in mic doesn't do the recordings any justice.... There are other ways together you a much better sound into the iPad....
