Think the 525 inspired this new Gibby offering?

Fully hollow, Florentine, Single coil. I know Gibby had the 295 and 125 long ago, and this is just a new iteration. I also seem to remember reading that Jay Wolfe and Heritage got together to make the 525 a reality....I just wonder if Gibby picked up on the recent 525 (it seems popular!) and decided to revisit some roots? I'm guessing that the headstock & fret board inlay are a result of the popularity of Dave Grohl's Trini Lopez take off. I like both though---just a thought and a wonder!!!!!!!

Looks like a 137 Custom with P90s and a Bigsby to me.

True. Gibson came out with the 137 years before Heritage's H525. Plus the Gibson had either hums or P90's. I've played many of them and quickly put them back on the shelf at the music store. Now that the Custom Shop is making the latest version pictured above, maybe it's a better axe. I like the looks of it, but my 525 is my 'cold dead hands' gitfiddle.

Always there is my wishful envy and mountainous appreciation of ur 525...ahhhh the beauty and majesty!!....my thoughts were tht this is hollow while 137 Is a semi with hb's. 135 did p90s...but still a semi....I guess I like to think H can occasionally lead the pack.

The 125 begot the 525, the 125 begot the 137. Everyone begot that?

You sure?

I have played neither of them but I'd prefer the Academy, no doubts about that.

The Gibson Midtown Kalamazoo has a flat top (ouch!), 23,5" scale and a hollowed out mahogany body. The only beautiful thing about this guitar is the flower pot on the headstock, which really doesn't belong there.

The flatop, the block inlays, too small pickguard, and the ugly Nashville bridge look wrong on the Midtown. And the goofy lower horn, the batwing pickguard, and the Schaller hardware look bad on the Academy. I like the tailpiece, flower pot headstock, and body shape of the midtown, and I like the archtop, trap inlays, toggle switch position, and the bound headstock on the academy. I know, I'm picky:)

I agree that the Academy looks goofy, but it sits very well on the lap, well balanced, the schallers sound great. The neck seems long and shifted far to the left but plays easily. Clean and chimey at 10:00 and just a little rough at 12:00. What's this thread about?

Speaking if Aesthetics...I like the look of the 195---possibly the 16 inch body is the right proportion for the PG and the F holes vs the smaller bodies of the midtown and academy. The new Florentine Millie (I think?) however, seems to pull off a nice aesthetic from the pics. The blocks do, however, seem a bit overwhelming. I like these diamond inlays---Possibly the Florentine Millie w/ 555 inlays? (I'm not a dot fan, but those proportions would work well on the smaller body I'd guess)

The Memphis ES-195 is NOT a hollowbody guitar. Look again at the specs. It is a semi hollow with a maple/basswood body. And that Strat headstock, that is just wrong for that guitar. Does Heritage use basswood in their semi's and hollowbodies? Hell no. My 555 and 525 are both maple back and sides. Nope, the 525 had nothing to do with it. And at $2600 this guitar is not a very good value IMO.

The Academy appears to be a Single-Cut Prospect, which I happen to have, and am surprisingly very pleased with. I saw the Street signs for Prospect and Academy at the most recent PSP, and had to smile....

I misunderstood you when you said "single cut prospect which I have". I knew you had this beauty, I thought you had the single cut "Prospect" too!!
