Belated NAD!

I've had the amp for a couple days but this is the first chance I've had to play it.

It's one of these, http://www.carvinguitars.com/products/V3M

I had a rough week at work then played Friday and Saturday night at a new Casino that opened up, ( great gig by the way) so my fingers are really sore, I think it was working on cold dirty nuts and bolts all week that did it.

Even with sore fingers I played for a couple hours, really easy to get the sounds I wanted, set the channel levels and boost levels and then just wail on it a bit. The way I have it set up I have a super clean channel, kicking the boost on adds just a little hair with very little volume change, channel 2 has a nice rock/blues sound and the boost just makes it sing a little more (think Soulshine) then channel 1 is uber heavy, for the modern high gain stuff (that I suck at but still attempt to do). Being a micro amp the reverb is digital but sounds fine, though I don't find much need for reverb playing live. Switchable wattage from 7/22/50, operates at 4/8/16 ohms, and has cool red or blue leds that light up the inside, (serve no purpose but look cool).

I had to stop before I played with running effects into the effects loop but this week I'm going to try and get it set up.

Bottom line, I think this amp is an amazing deal, $549 with the footswitch, US made, and warrantied (spelt right?) With a 2X12 cab it makes a nice light gig rig that should do anything I ever need.

I know everyone wants clips and gutshots but I'm just to tired right now, been under the weather for a few days.

By the way, (unrelated) apparently their is a reason for the dosage instructions on medicine labels. Friday night I was sick and in an effort to keep the plumbing clear enough to sing I kept sipping on a bottle of Nyquil, over the course of the gig I polished of an entire bottle, and was high as Jesus. Not like being drunk either it was really strange to me. No warning, one minute ok the next bombed.

Had one for awhile but went back to my Fender DRRI

Really bad idea polishing off that much Nyquil, man. The Acetaminophen (Tylenol) in there can be dangerous when not used if directed; If fact, possibly deadly. I wouldn't suggest it, ESPECIALLY if you were consuming any alcohol or have any liver challenges. Sorry for the rant, but way too many people think that if it's available over the counter, it MUST be safe. Not true, certainly not when you don't follow the dosage guidelines..

That said, congratulations on the amp! I hope you enjoy it.

Congrats Trouble - that DOES sound like it covers a lot of territory!

Congrats. Lots to be said for grab and go and pretty amazing what can be packed these days into small, quality, packages.

...yup. I "OD-ed" on advil when I was in France. Had to give a paper at a conference, was sick and had a raging headache, and so on the way out of the door took what would have been a high but ok US "super strength" dose to get me through it. I did get throught the paper, barely, but then had uncontrollable shakes, and had to leave the conference. Figured out later that one of the French super strengths was equal to almost three of the US, and I'd taken two. Very, very stupid. I couldn't have played, or driven (fortunately my wife was there to get me back to our apt.) so, yeah, agree strongly with those who say be careful with over-the-counter doses.

Nyquil is mostly alcohol if I remember right, and mixed with all the other stuff in it, no wonder you bought a Carvin!! LOL Just kiddin they make great stuff and still made in the good ol USA.. Glad you are ok!! :)

With the little time I've had to spend with it it's been pretty impressive, playing it through a closed back 2X12 it's pretty intense, tried running some stuff through the effects loop today and found I prefer just running everything straight to the amp better.

Thanks everybody. The Nyquil thing was completely accidental, I felt terrible and just kept taking a swig now and then, before I knew it the bottle was empty and I was pretty wobbly, I wasn't drinking or anything though, and I definitely didn't do it for recreation.
