PaGator Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Generally not a big fan of blue guitars but that is a beauty
zdzislaw Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 subtle, elegant and that is the way she will play
Spectrum13 Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 That prospect was next to another super blue Heritage

Ryan Posted December 22, 2013 Author Posted December 22, 2013 Spoke with Graham on the phone today. They've been swamped this past week, but he assured me they'd have my guitar set up and shipped out Monday. I may call back then to see how much extra it would be to have it overnighted. Is that my guitar I see peeking out in the right side of your photo? How's she look in person? That 150/157 is very cool looking, but I agree, the gold hardware is a bit over the top for me. Ryan

Ryan Ryan, Looks like blue fiddle candy in person. Has a tag on the fingerboard for 11s. They were jammed yesterday. Graham never had lunch a I took up a good 40 minutes
Ryan Posted December 22, 2013 Author Posted December 22, 2013 Ha, that's what Graham said on the phone. Told me that he and Jay never had their coffee either, and were suffering from withdrawals. I saw your photos of my Prospect in the thread about your new 147. Looks just as pretty in your photos as in Jay's. Can't wait to get my hands on her! Ryan
slider313 Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 So, that blue single pickup is a 147? I recently got my '89 147 back from the person I sold it to back in 2006. I think the three of us should have a little "blues" jam.
big bob Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 Hey Ryan, what were the final specs, did you go with a wider rim?
Ryan Posted December 25, 2013 Author Posted December 25, 2013 Hi Bob, I decided to just go with the standard rim width. Here's the list of specs I sent to Wolfe. I ended up with SD 59s and a standard Honduran mahogany neck. Jay talked me down from a 5-piece maple neck, mostly for tonal reasons. The maple neck sure would have been pretty though. -Fully Hollow -25 1/2" scale -Dark trans blue -Medium/thick C-shaped neck with very little shoulder -No inlays -A bright, clear low-output PAF, probably just the Seth Lovers that I think come stock -Each pickup moved 1/4" toward the center of the guitar (stumbled upon this on a Gadow and really like the character it gives to each pickup) -Ebony fretboard (depending on price) -Maple neck (depending on price) -Bound headstock (depending on price) The guitar shipped out this Monday. UPS has it scheduled to arrive next Monday. I had hoped it might get here early, but the tracking system says it spent all day in Jacksonville, FL yesterday, so I doubt it. Getting sick of all this waiting! Oh well, I'll have the guitar in hand soon enough, I suppose. Merry Christmas everyone! Ryan
Ryan Posted January 4, 2014 Author Posted January 4, 2014 After a last minute vacation, I was able to pick up my Prospect from the UPS customer center last night. A quick report: This guitar is great! I have to admit that I was disappointed when I first picked it up. Something just felt "off". Maybe it was just cold. However, once I got used to the way it responded and it started warming up, it came alive. It's quite loud unplugged, and I'd describe it as warm and lively. I'm still tweaking the pickup height and figuring out the amplified tone, but so far it's what I expected and intended it to be. The hollow body and 25 1/2" scale make for a wonderful balance between warmth and snap/twang. I'm really looking forward to seeing how it sounds and responds at stage volume. The fit and finish isn't perfect. You can find file marks and traces of overspray in a few places. But the overall look and feel of the guitar is so lovely that I just don't care. The ebony fretboard looks and feels fantastic. And considering I paid less for a terrific, completely custom, hollow guitar than I would for most used PRS Hollowbodies, I feel I can't complain. Overall I'm very satisfied with both the guitar and my experience with ordering from Wolfe. I'm sure GAS for a custom guitar will set in again in the future, and I'll likely be ordering from Wolfe again when it does. I'll try to get more photos of the guitar up in the next couple days. Ryan
