timwmd Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 I saw a small Ric amp on the craigslist this weekend for $50 bucks. I figured for that price with on board tremolo I couldn't lose. with only the footswitch missing it is in I guess 98% condition, plugged the old strat in...kinda thin... plugged the H150 in and hey! with a little adjustment, I would call the sound creamy. pleasing to the ear, add tremolo and has a nice warm tone. research tells me it is a solid state amp made in America 1978 vintage model TR7. it's 5 watts or so. first input is controlled by it own volume, the master volume does not have to be on, if you add master it jumps the volume up. second input is not controlled by the volume, the master has to be on first then volume second. people on the Ric site seem to really like this amp, anybody out there have one? or the big brothers? it has me interested in Ric amps now, I'll keeping an eye out.
smurph1 Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 That's cool!! I've always loved the Rickenbacker sound.. I grew up in the 60's.. and I always liked bands that had that kind of "Jangly" sound.Byrds,Beatles. REM, Tom Petty, Etc.. Don't think I've ever seen or heard a Rick amp though.. Congratulations!!
