How unusual is a one-pickup H550?

Archtop.com had a one pickup version of the H550 this week. I thought it was really intriguing and it sold in just a few days so I guess I'm not the only one who thought so. When I look around the net at the 550 a couple weeks ago, I didn't see any that didn't have two pickups. Was this a one-off guitar or do these makes occasional appearances?

The Heritage factory makes all kinds of one off customs for people or dealers. That was probably the case with the 550 you saw. They are one of my favorite guitars. A buddy has one with two pickups. I love it.

I'm fairly certain that the H-550 is the Heritage version of the old Gibson ES-350 (like the Tal Farlow). Gibson laminated body sized like an L-5, Heritage laminated body sized like an Eagle.

You could order one with a single pickup. I've also seen some thin line H550 guitars that would be very comfortable to play.

I've got a custom order underway right now that I still have to finish paying for or I probably would have jumped on this guitar when it first got listed. I think what they're building for me (a 575 with a 25.5" scale length) is likely to be a really special guitar I guess I'm masochistic enough to be wondering about the rarity of the one that got away.

Part of the thrill of the hunt is the disappointment of "the one that got away"...! Can't wait to see your custom order.

I was considering that one too. Looked like a sweet one!

That was a nice single p'up 550.

One thing concerned me about it, however. The bridge saddles were all screwed back as far as they could go. Whoever bought it should check the intonation.

I'm pretty sure this same guitar has now shown up at a Guitar Center for a stupid high pice. I don't have any photos from the original listing but as Gitfiddler pointed out, the saddles appear to be all the way back. At $3,000 I assume it's not going anywhere but my goodness a 1-pickup 550 looks nice. On the other hand, I'm having a wonderful honeymoon with the long scale 575, so I should probably just cut off my internet access and just work on recording the new album.
