Kuz Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 There definitely seems to be more choices for better reissue 6L6 tubes than good reissue 6v6 tubes. For 6L6 tubes, I prefer TAD 6L6 and Tungsol 5881s. But you also have Tungsol 6L6s and SEC Winged "C" 6L6. For 6V6, the Tungsol RI 6V6 is really the only new tube I like.
Genericmusic Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 I hate it when that happens. Good luck.
JeffB Posted December 28, 2013 Author Posted December 28, 2013 I hate it when that happens. Good luck. I have spares. Just to lazy to bother to change for another. Also its probably too late at night to play at a decent volume. Found out all I needed to know before the speaker said good night and that took all the sting out of wanting to make a vid to post. The Mesa's clean channel lost its warmth with the 6v6s and the gain channel sounded much better with the 6v6's. In fact it straight out rocked..........and then it didnt. Have to be honest, I cursed loudly. I thought I had blown up my amp.
tulk1 Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 You can run 6v6s in the LS? Been so long since I've fired mine up I guess I forgotten that.
