You may notice the tight grain of the very slow growth spruce on your top. The billet for your spruce was close to $500 wholesale. Patrick delivered two of those billets, one for him and one for you.

Wow, I did not know that - Thanks for pointing it out to me! It makes me appreciate my guitar even more :-)

I was aware of Patricks guitar (from the jazz guitar forum) and it is absolutely stunning - I also love the old style burst (I think that is my favorite finish from Heritage) … and your interpretation of it is spot on :-)

Ha ha, I hear you :-) .... Well the H555 is on the shortlist here as well ... And hell, who could refuse a nice h157 ??? ... But one thing at a time ... This golden eagle I definitely the most amazing jazz guitar I have ever seen - couldn't be happier!

Hello Frank, welcome to the club and congratulations on owning such a beautiful guitar, even in picture format it just says "play me".

I own a 555, as do many others here. You asked about it so all I can do is tell you about mine. It is natural finish with a maple neck. I had the schaller pups removed and replaced them with Seymour 59's. They sound fine to me, but I haven't had the opportunity hear other pick ups on similar guitars other than stock 335's with gibson pick ups on.

I find the 555 very comfortable to play, but sometimes struggle with the thin neck as I have pain in my left fore finger. I love the sound it makes through a valve amp when it is just starting to break, but you could play almost any genre of music on it, I think it is a very versatile guitar. My friend is an excellent jazz player and he gets great tones from it.

Thank you for the very kind response Mark!

Good to know that the necks of the H555's tend to be skinny - I also don't like that.

Actually, the neck on that very golden eagle I have posted here is just perfect, nice and round, substantial but not too chunky … really like it …

like I love everything else about this guitar.

That looks incredible, especially the inlays!

Due to customer demand Heritage started making their neck profiles on most guitars a bit thicker around 2007 forward. And as always, one can custom order about any neck proflle desired.

Thanks Gitfiddler - I am actually waiting for feedback from Ren and then I maybe able to order, yuppies … the GE took so long that more wishes were building up … and now that I know first hand how great Heritage guitars are I can't resist :-)

Here's the top of Patrick's guitar, which was made simultaneous to yours.

The old sunburst finish brought out all of the satanic messages hidden in the wood (just my opinion here).

Thanks Mack! I always liked the looks of golden eagles but never was a fan of the cloud inlays. I'm much happier with the split block inlays and I also think that they suit the guitar really well … couldn't be any happier with it!

Congratulations: Beautiful guitar, lovely sounds. I just ordered a Heritage Eagle Classic, supposed to arrive by Nov. 9 but my wife says I cannot open it till Christmas! (But I love her anyway.) I am hoping this will be my forever guitar.

Also started taking jazz quitar lessons earlier this summer, so hoping to improve my sound.

Hi porchmusician,

exciting news about the custom ordered eagle classic. These are very pretty guitars and they sound sooo sweet. I am sure it will be everything you have been hoping for! Nice christmas present :-)
