Frank67 Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Dear Heritage fans, thanks so much for the friendly reception with respect to my posting of my wonderful golden eagle yesterday. I wanted to follow this up with a little demo of the acoustic tone of the instrument. I always thought that carved arch tops should have a nice acoustic tone - and the GE definitely does. I was thinking of how to amplify it and came up with the Schertler DYN-G contact pickup that attaches fully reversibly to the top. It sounds nothing like a piezo and I am quite happy with tone. The downside is feedback - very hard to control. Anyways, here is a little piece that I recorded this morning: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHQkGPUiGiM&feature=youtu.be Enjoy your Heritages! Cheers, Frank
Number8 Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 That was darn right pleasant to listen to with my coffee right now...thanks.
MartyGrass Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Great gypsy! What amp are you running the pickup through? Have you consider one of those microphones you place in the guitar?
Frank67 Posted January 5, 2014 Author Posted January 5, 2014 The details of the recording chain are in the caption to the Youtube. Basically the pickup is running into a LR Baggs Para acoustic DI and from there into an AER Compact XL acoustic amp. Can you recommend a good 'in guitar' mic? ... I have searched the internet but it seemed inconclusive for archtops. For flattops or Selmer guitars there seems to be a ton of possibilities - for archtops not so much that would fit into the f-hole. Other than piezos the Schertler seemed to be one of the better alternatives.
