gpuma Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Just to put things into perspective. Got there from the gear page... I think it's interesting.
gpuma Posted January 6, 2014 Author Posted January 6, 2014 Blind testing - imagine that. like wines....
Number8 Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 If anyone is dissuaded from viewing this because it's 58+ minutes long. Just watch the first 10 minutes...it's eye ear opening. The Stairway to Heaven played backwards part is undeniably cool.
gpuma Posted January 6, 2014 Author Posted January 6, 2014 yes, the first 10 minutes suffice. Then it gets super technical.
rockabilly69 Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 like wines.... just don't drink the wine while blind testing the amps or you may just have too much fun!
H Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I have an opinion on this. I think most people on this forum know what I think of 'tone-chasing'. I'll just add this: if only a few people can hear the difference between same value/different construction capacitors, etc, then isn't it a disappointment to extrapolate that tiny percentage to your listening audience's aural capability... Flame on!
gpuma Posted January 6, 2014 Author Posted January 6, 2014 just don't drink the wine while blind testing the amps or you may just have too much fun! I just tried to get a sip of a greenback and it did not taste right at all

Not sure I understand what you mean. A disappointment?

koula901 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Just to put things into perspective. Got there from the gear page... I think it's interesting. This starts out being very interesting. After awhile, it gives me a headache!
gpuma Posted January 7, 2014 Author Posted January 7, 2014 I hear the blue tastes better:) And then I plugged my 150 into a (bottle of) Cab(ernet). That was not a success either
JeffB Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Just found time to watch the first 12minutes. Interesting on a few different levels.
Vanschoyck Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 reissue wine is definately fine and original chasis is classy . . .
yoslate Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Watched every minute of it. This is the wormhole that is retirement....
TalismanRich Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 I did enjoy reading Ethan's web site. I especially enjoyed this.
JeffB Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Watched every minute of it. This is the wormhole that is retirement.... I carried on and watched it all and then watched a few other vids from the same guy. This is the wormhole of thinking everything is interesting and matters.
Vanschoyck Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 This starts out being very interesting. After awhile, it gives me a headache! And what sort of name is Poppy Crum?
gpuma Posted January 12, 2014 Author Posted January 12, 2014 I did enjoy reading Ethan's web site. I especially enjoyed this. Thank goodness that does not apply to guitars and gear. We know very well that no engineer ever built a guitar!
