Ryan Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 It finally was warm and dry enough today for me to feel comfortable taking my new baby outside for a quick photo session. They're just crappy cell phone pics but I think they show off her colors decently. Still loving this thing! I can get some lovely, musical feedback at moderate volume, which was one of the things I hoped for with this design. It's surprisingly bright when amplified, but easily controlled with a tweak of the tone knobs. That brightness is coupled with a full, rich hollowbody "thunk". It's also probably the most responsive electric I've played, both to control inputs as well as picking technique. It's truly a joy to play, and very rewarding to play well. My buddy and I have been doing some recording lately, so if we do a song that I feel really showcases this guitar's tone I'll be sure to upload it somehow. Despite how much I'm enjoying this guitar, I can't help but wonder what it would be like with a solid carved top and back. Maybe she needs a similarly spec'd Millie DC or Ultra Pro for a sister? Ryan
skydog52 Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 Love it! That looks like a deeper blue compared to their Neptune blue. Very nice custom features that you chose. Prospects just feel comfortable to me. Enjoy!
Redsand Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THAT GUITAR ……………..if it doesn't work out between you two, give her my number!
Spectrum13 Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 Despite how much I'm enjoying this guitar, I can't help but wonder what it would be like with a solid carved top and back. Maybe she needs a similarly spec'd Millie DC or Ultra Pro for a sister? Ryan You got one bad case of Heritageitiss. I saw that blue Prospect in Jupitor and the photos do not do it justice
Guest HRB853370 Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 Did they forget to slap on the fretboard markers or are they just invisible?
PunkKitty Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 That's a beautiful Prospect, Ryan. Congrats!
HANGAR18 Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Did they forget to slap on the fretboard markers or are they just invisible? Oh no, they peel off real easy.
bolero Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 wow that's a nice Prospect! what pickups did you get?
Ryan Posted January 12, 2014 Author Posted January 12, 2014 Thanks all. It really is much prettier in person. I've gotten lots of compliments from envious musician friends as well as non-musicians. The blue is very deep and looks almost purple or black in dim lighting, but really brightens up in the sun. The label says trans blue, but I think it's darker than Heritage's normal trans blue, as I requested. Skydog, this guitar is very comfortable. I'm enjoying it much more that my old 535. It's also super light. Despite being pretty neck heavy, I feel like I could play it for hours with no issue. Spectrum, I've got the Heritageitis, and I've got it bad. I'm already looking around for things that I could sell off to fund my next custom order. Somebody stop me... Bolero, I went with 59's. I think they're a pretty good match for this guitar. Very clear. There's a bit of a scooped midrange, but I think that adds to their clarity. They pair very well with a TS9 for drive. Ryan
RhoadsScholar Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 What a beautiful shade of Blue. I am a sucker for a blue heritage. Yours turned out great. Very unique too. I bet it sounds great.
tulk1 Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Generally a big fan of the blue guitars. But that one is SO deep. And a Prospect. Whats not to like? Prospect - my favorite Heritage.
slider313 Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Great color and I love the bound headstock. Enjoy it.
chico Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Well done. I keep toying w the idea of a prospect v a 535 which just seem so..big.
eljay Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Well done. I keep toying w the idea of a prospect v a 535 which just seem so..big. interesting that you say this, ray. with my 335 gone, i'm thinking about a 535, too. i prefer the size of the prospect but there is something special about 535s. yoslate's "testimony" that his 535 is the best guitar he's ever had carries a lot of weight with me. otoh, the conventional wisdom seems to be that the sonic difference between the prospect and the 535 is minimal. maybe a standard prospect will do it for me. (my existing prospect don't count, since it is hollow, not semi.) anyway, a wonderful thread about a wonderful axe!
