My first Heritage on its way!

I thought I'd join the club and say hello.

I have had my eye on Heritage guitars for some time now, and with the sale of a different guitar and an eBay auction priced right, I was finally able pulled the trigger on one. It's a H535 from 1994, and thats about all I know about it right now. I am excited, but also don't typically like buying guitars without playing them first, so I am a bit nervous. I have played some new H535's at a local shop, so I know what those feel and sound like, but every guitar is a little different, so i am just hoping it's not a dud.

It's traveling from Georgia to Minneapolis right now, and I should have it in hand sometime next week.

Hey congrats, look forward to hearing about your purchase and fear not

Welcome to the HOC! Congrats on your purchase, I wouldn't worry too much about your new H535 as the duds are few and far between with Heritage.

And the 535 is such a versatile guitar, arguably Heritage's finest piece.

Welcome to the HOC and, as some of us here say: Nice snatch! :)

Welcome! Let us know when it arrives.

Way to join the club!! Congrats. And even if it isn't perfect when you get it, a decent setup will do wonders. Remember to post pics when it arrives.

Arguably, every Heritage is their finest piece. But the do make a wonderful semi hollow body guitar. Where in Georgia did you find this?

Rest assured that I'll post some pics when the guitar arrives in Minneapolis.

On these Guitars, is there a way to know what pickups are installed without removing them? That's one thing I am curious about and might just take a peak right away unless they are labeled somewhere.

Congratulations. You probably already know this, but just in case, remember to try avoid opening the box and case right away and let it come to room temperature first, as I'm guessing the box will be pretty cold when it arrives, given that it's January and you're in Minnesota.

The pickups are sometimes documented on the label inside the control cavity. Even then, you can't be certain they weren't changed.

Welcome new brother. Congratulations. A 535 was my first heritage, great guitars. Enjoy.

A few clues on the pickusp...

If there's a dot on the switch and four screws in the surround, they are probably HRWs. If no dot and four screws, they will be stock Schallers. If there's only one screw per side they will probably be SD59s but the pickups will probably be documented on the label.

All that is assuming they haven't been swapped out for something different. Swapping pups on a semi is tougher than on a 150, so it happens less often.

535s are one of Heritage's best guitars. You can cover just about anything with them.

Thanks for the info. According to the eBay pics there's no dot on the switch and only one screw per side on the pickups although the rings have additional holes not being used, which leads me to believe that they have been changed. Bridge pickup ring looks to have been a bit of a hack job.

Those are easy to replace.
