MartyGrass Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 No other information is available for release.
MartyGrass Posted January 18, 2014 Author Posted January 18, 2014 I got nothing to say. Pleading the fifth. It ain't mine. I stopped breathing when I saw it and was almost as blue. I like how people take pix of their guitars in the wild. It's like maybe we were hiking, came into a clearing, and happened upon a blue archtop before it ran back into the woods.
RhoadsScholar Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 i love it mark. Make it happen. you won't regret it.
2bornot2bop Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 A blue JS must be rarer than rare. Mark, you know we have to have it!
58super Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 That would look really good with gold hardware.
MartyGrass Posted January 18, 2014 Author Posted January 18, 2014 This is a beautiful guitar. Many, possibly most, traditional jazz players would be turned of by the blue. So this guitar isn't for everyone to begin with. Next, this happened. Of course it can be repaired. It will likely require an internal block to make it secure and a refinish of the rim. That's a big repair. Someone tried to walk away with the guitar plugged in. Rim jacks are convenient but require care. Marv and Bill at Heritage don't favor them for this reason. I don't know if the rim was braced there for the jack. I have a couple of archtops with rims jacks. When I set the guitar down I always unplug it. I've had close calls in the past and don't want to take any chances.
MartyGrass Posted January 18, 2014 Author Posted January 18, 2014 i love it mark. Make it happen. you won't regret it. It still might happen but not likely. I can get this repaired, but the seller wants $4500 broken!
MartyGrass Posted January 18, 2014 Author Posted January 18, 2014 I met a guy today at Pete Moreno's who just had his Gibson L5 refinished by Pete. When the guy got it home he let the case lid fall on it. That punctured a large hole in the top. Sad.

LOL - that reminds of surf pictures and movies of guys hiking through beautiful forests with their surfboards before reaching some epic surf spot. Like "it ain't no thang".

2bornot2bop Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 I'd guesstimate that's an $800 max repair.
Gitfiddler Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 The seller should offer a substantial discount. True, it is a rare blue finish, but as you've stated, not many archtop purists desire that color. That plus the jacked up jack is a scenario for very flexible negotiating on both sides.
Ned Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 I like it a lot and I normally think two tone sun burst is gaudy. Wow.
RhoadsScholar Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 It still might happen but not likely. I can get this repaired, but the seller wants $4500 broken! That is kinda steep. Too bad. Not sure how well that would be hidden once repaired. It sure is a looker though.

JackBaruth Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Tragedy When you lose control And you break that hole it's Tragedy When you do a spin But the cord's still in It's hard to bear What once was a circle Gets glued with a square
Guitarbean Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 I sense allusions and analogies...nice. Glad you're feeling better.
Mack Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Wow, what a looker! Too bad about the jack though..
