OK So Who Got It?

When I was taking lessons, we were working on the exact opposite of what you are now doing. The thumb is flat and in the center of the back of the neck, it is really the only part of the hand on touchimg the neck. The fingers hover over the top of the strings with only the tips making contact and very little, to no part of the inner hand or palm touching the bottom of the neck. This is more of a classical guitar technique, but it is what your very efficient jazz guitarist and fusion guitarist use.

I took lessons when I was a kid in Junior high school. Only my thumb was allowed to touch. But with the style I play, that gets rather uncomfortable fast. Unless I developed a schredder style playing (which is based upon classical guitar technique), I keep working on my grip and play more rock/blues style with the thumb wrapped over.... If its good enough for the Reverend Billy Gibbons, its good enough for me...

DB... at this point shouldn't you have just picked up a used R7 or R8? Probably would have saved money by now??

I might have, but I hate to lose out on loyalty to Heritage...

Man, you gotta get over that. Get what works for you; You've certainly tried to make Heritage work, but it doesn't seem to be working. Get what works, then, when you least expect it, MAYBE the Heritage of your dreams will magically appear. You have earned your loyalty badge with the 445, so you can sleep with a clear conscience. In the meantime, play that beautiful new Gibson, or whatever other brand you find that works, because life's too short, buddy.

Save up for a custom order and get a Heritage H-150 or Millie with the specific neck you want. In the long run, it will cost you less than the way your doing things now. You might think buying used is cheaper, but hell, churning through them like you do -even when you resell a used instrument for what you paid for it, you're still usually out the money for shipping and transaction fees and whatever modifications you did to it.

Find that dot you like so much and drive it up to Kalamazoo. Have Marv carve the neck as you watch -then be done with it.

There's more than money involved here: The sooner you get the guitar you want, the more years you'll have to enjoy it. Life's too short to keep doing it your way!

There are a few side bar conversations leading me to believe by the time I'm able to swing it, I don't think it will be a possibility.

What kind of time table do these "side bar convos" say we're looking at?

I've also heard similar rumblings.

I hope they are wrong. Makes me sad to think about.

Bert Weinmann Ford: there's a blast from the past. They tore that place down years ago.

Remember the sunday morning wrestling commercials with an unbelievable deal that was never there when you'd show up? Then the salesman would express sympathy and offer you a special deal on a car that was even better!
