thedomedcity Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 Anyone know what is inside the two yellow cylinders electrically connected between the volume and tone controls? I am assuming it is a capacitor of some value and it looks to be covered in a yellow plastic cylinder and filled with Elmers glue. Also, which pickups did they use in this model? Sounds fantastic. thank you in advance for any insight.
H Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 My Heritages (all humbucker-equipped) arrived with .022 mfd yellow axial capacitors. They may be Mallory but the ones I have don't appear to be branded.
thedomedcity Posted January 24, 2014 Author Posted January 24, 2014 Thanks. I did see some GE brands on the web that look like mine.
tulk1 Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 How do you know they "appear" to be filled with Elmer's? Pickups were mostly likely Schallers. If you have two adjustment screws per side, then yep, Schallers.
H Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 How do you know they "appear" to be filled with Elmer's? That's what it tasted like
PunkKitty Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 Pictures would help us identify the pickups. I suspect that they are Schallers. The yellow tubes are most likely capacitors. Again, pictures would help.
thedomedcity Posted January 24, 2014 Author Posted January 24, 2014 Here is the control cavity. Looks like Elmers inside that yellow cap right? LOL
thedomedcity Posted January 24, 2014 Author Posted January 24, 2014 PUPS are single screw on each side not double.
PunkKitty Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 If they are factory pickups my guess is that they are Seymour Duncans of some type. There might be a sticker on the bottom of the pickups to identify them. The caps look like ordinary .022mfd caps.
thedomedcity Posted January 24, 2014 Author Posted January 24, 2014 Thanks. Next time I take the strings off, I will look under the hood.
H Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 Here are the pickups. h140 pups.JPG What colour is the pickup selector switch? This is a serious question!
PrairieDude Posted January 25, 2014 Posted January 25, 2014 That is a great looking guitar! So, there are some 140's out there with a venetian cut on the lower bout before the introduction of the 2nd edition 140? Or, when was that 2nd edition first made? I keep seeing variations of guitars, and custom features, that make me want to own one of each!!

The tip off for me is the pickup rings are the Schaller type. BUT the pickups could be Schaller and the 4 adjustment screws were just reduced to the traditional 2. Probably have to lift one of the pickups to truly know. Gotta say. ... I'm leaning towards them being Schaller as the pole spacing in the neck pickup seems to be right for that. If that's the case, they would likely be factory but with the screw mod. Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk
thedomedcity Posted March 7, 2014 Author Posted March 7, 2014 Mystery solved! PUPS have Seymour signature on them. btw- this is an original guitar shipped to me from the factory and unaltered.
