eljay Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Hey, all! This guy has been a-building for over a year. Divorce and other life stuff, with the attendant cash flow impacts, forced a delay in finishing up. But, finally! I wanted a vox type amp to round out my gear. Found a kool kit made by Trinity Amps in Canada (eh). Asked my friend Jim Nickelson at Li'l Dawg Amps if he would build the kit for me. Got Peter Mather into the mix with a cabinet, polished solid cherry. Received an email telling me it's ready to ship, last evening. Lifted Jim's photos to share with you, here: ef86 preamp tube and weber british series alnico speaker. Pics before it happens
schundog Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Now THAT is a stunner! Congratulations, Larry. If it sounds half as good as it looks, you'll be Golden!
tulk1 Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Loves me the anything VOX. That is one fine looking amplifier. Living Room worthy.
Steiner Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Whoa Baby! That's beautiful. Keep the baby photos, she is going to tan brown over the next few months. Kudos for keeping your cherry natural . Congrats!
fxdx99 Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 What a beauty!! Congrats, Larry. Cab is fantastic. Amp design reads very very cool. Looking forward to some clips (please)!
GuitArtMan Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Sweet! I've heard good things about the trinity amps, and I can personally attest to Peter Mathers cabinet building skills. Looks killer!
duhvoodooman Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Whoa, absolutely killer cabinet there! Trinity makes a fine kit--premium components, well laid out. I built a head version of their 18W TMB, which came out great.
Gitfiddler Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 What an amazing build! We need a full review once it arrives and you wipe off all of your drool stains from that fine cherrywood finish.
eljay Posted January 30, 2014 Author Posted January 30, 2014 Living Room worthy. in fact, she's going in the living room. no space left in the den! i think i'll put a guitar stand with my favorite axe (on any given day) next to an easy chair and make this my go-to spot for a while . . .
Yooper Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Beautiful! I bet it will sound as good as it looks too. Congrats.
smokedtires Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Amazing wood working skills, looks PERFECT! Enjoy
rjsanders Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 for those not familiar with his work, this how every Mather cab is joined, including all the head shells, speaker and combo cabs underneath Heritage amps' tolex. highly recommended. http://www.mathercab.com
Spectrum13 Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Kraaaaaagh.... Now you got something to plug your Ric into. Way to go Mr Style!
eljay Posted January 30, 2014 Author Posted January 30, 2014 Can we ask what it cost? ballpark $1600. i could have purchased the trinity build for that price but i like the idea of li'l dawg's tlc going into it and the custom cab appealed to me.
